And they always ask something like "If you could only have one gun for the rest of your life" or "If you could only have one shotgun, rifle, and pistol for the rest of your life".
Well, what about six?
What if you could only have six guns for the rest of your life?
They can be anything: six pistols; six rifles; six shotguns; a rifle, a shotgun, three machine guns and a Froo-Froo Bang-Bang.
What would you pick?
Just curious. That and I just listened to Seether's "Six Gun Quota" for the first time.

It's a band. And I have no idea. But it gave me a strange urge to post a thread about it.
I failed to resist.

A good pump shotgun, maybe a '97 or maybe a 520 Stevens.
A good bolt action .30-'06, maybe a 1917 or an '03a3.
A .357, S&W 27 or 28 or 66 possibly a Ruger security-six.
A light caliber carbine maybe a m94 Swede in 6.5x55 or an AR15
A .22 pistol like a Ruger MkIII.
A good .22 rifle, too many to list.

That sounds good to me.

Seether rocks.

I agree with Standing Wolf (he's probably getting tired of it or he's already used to it). If I specify that the tyranny is that of my budget, then this week, I'd choose:

-any top-quality .22LR revolver

-any top-quality, medium frame, .38 Spl. or .357 Magnum revolver

-any bone-stock, reliable shotgun that fits me, probably in 12 gauge. This might be a Rem 870, 11, 11-48 or 1100; Win 1897, 1300, SX1; Mossberg 500/590/etc.; Ithaca 37; any of myriad doubles or a good single shot gun.

-any good rifle in .22LR: I currently favor Remington Models 33, 510 and 512; a Marlin 39 would find a welcome, too

-an M1. Any solid rifle in a hunting/fighting caliber would work for me, from a Krag-Jørgensen to a Ruger No. 1 in .257 Roberts, to a Marlin 336 in .35 Rem, to a Win Mod 70 in .270, to a FAL. It's just that the Garand is the coolest of all. ;)

-an AR-15 with a CMP-legal, match grade upper from John Holliger

I'm not trying to weasel out of the OP's parameters. I really do think this way.

If I could only have six guns for the rest of my life...

They would be:
-1911,
-AR-15,
-AKM,
-FAL,
-AK-74,
-another AK-74

That's about all I would want, as I'm a rifle guy.

1. MG-34
2. MG-34
3. MG-34
4. MG-34
5. MG-34
6. MG-34

Sell 5 of them and buy as many guns and as much ammo as I want. There's always a loophole. :D

Here's how mine would go:
1.) King Cobra (.357 mag)
2.) Glock 23 (w/ barrels for .40, .357 sig, & 9mm)
3.) XR-100 (22-250)
4.) Magnum Research Mountain Eagle Rifle (.308)
5.) Walther G22 (.22lr)
6.) AR10 (with upper in .243 and all other short action cartridges I could get).

I still can't narrow it down to just six. :D

Without being brand specific, I would want nine guns:
Military/police service pistol (as a main defensive sidearm)
Backup/hideout defensive handgun
.22 rifle
.22 pistol
Large game hunting rifle (probably a bolt action, definitely scoped)
"Assault" rifle
"Battle" rifle
Two shotguns, one a police/military style for defense, another for hunting.

Some of these guns do have overlapping functions. I could, for example, use the "battle" rifle for large game hunting in a pinch, get a shotgun with interchangeable barrels, or possibly take away the small concealed handgun, bringing it back down to six.

Six guns for the rest of my life: What are they? (1) 4" Colt Diamondback 22 revolver, (2) 6" Colt Trooper Mark III 357 revolver, (3) Remington 541-S 22 rifle, (4) Remington Model 700 BDL 270 win, (5) 6" Smith & Wesson Model 57 41 mag, (6) Remington 870 12 ga shotgun.

I'd hate to not own any semi-auto pistols or rifles or multiple 22 handguns, but if it came down to picking; those would be my picks. I don't necessarily pick the most expensive, just what is practical for my needs.

At least the thread is more on topic that the never ending posts about the BBQ that looks like a S&W revolver (over and over). :p

Just one, so I can shoot the guy who posts the "If you could have x-number of guns..." threads...
I think that's the definitive reply.

Unless you say one for each guy that . . . . .

But those are no worse that the "Which is Best a or z" or "What is the Ultimate....." :banghead:
