Hi Everyone,
I haven't bought a new pistol in a number of years.
I was wondering what is currently available with the following:
1) 9mm
2) Single-stack (thin)
3) Polymer (ideally w/ rust-resistant slide finish)
4) Full-sized grip (I have medium-sized hands and would like all fingers on grip)...
I have a 32 H&R Mag S&W 332 that I'm considering for dog protection during jogging. What do you guys think of this caliber for dog protection? It is the lightest J-frame I own at about 10 oz. and would prefer it weight-wise to my 442 .38 Spl at 15 oz.
Thoughts?
Hi Everyone,
I haven't bought any new guns for awhile now and don't know everything out in the market anymore. I was hoping people could chime in with options for a single-stack, polymer 9mm with a full firing grip without mag or grip extensions. For comparison, the Sig P239 would be the...
Would there be any reason a gunsmith would purposely remove the extractor pins in a S&W 19-3?
I have a 2.5-incher that came that way to me with them missing awhile back. I always meant to get some replacements (when parts were plentiful), but I noticed Numrich is out of them (haven't checked...
I was wondering if anybody here appendix carries a G26 in a leather IWB holster?
I usually like to carry full-size revolvers (4" N-frames) in a IWB holster around 3 o'clock--often Milt Sparks VM2s.
I'd like to try appendix carry. I have a CTAC for my G26 which I am able to somewhat place...
My always carry is a S&W 442 revolver. It is about 15 ounces unloaded, just under 19 ounces loaded (with pocket holster).
What semi-autos are between 15 and 20 ounces in weight, loaded? It doesn't have to be a pocket gun (if there are candidates too big for pocket carry).
Thanks for any...
Recently in my neck of the woods, a person was shot by police (in the lower abdomen) for grabbing an officer's taser and pointing it at them.
Two questions I would like to get everyone's opinion:
1) Was the police justified in using deadly force (the person shot didn't die)?
2) As a...
Anybody know what is the flatest-shooting pistol (semi-auto) caliber/round?
I'm interested in what is "commonly" available--probably out to 100 yards or so.
Thanks.
I'm looking to get a S&W N-frame that throws a 200-250 gr slug at approximately 1050 fps (to remain subsonic at approximately 4400 ft elevation). I think I calculated speed of sound to be around 1100 fps at my elevation. I'm looking to get an all-steel model with 4" barrel.
Which caliber...
I'm thinking of getting a sub-compact .45 ACP. I currently have 2 Colt 1911s, a Kimber, and a Sig P220 in .45.
I'm open to all action types. The primary requirement is outstanding reliability.
This will be for when I can't carry normally. Most common carry methods will be tuckable IWB...
Curious about what you guys prefer between the two. I'm purposely leaving platform and capacity out of the equation.
Usage would be for CCW and home/car defense (thus the lower pressure rounds).
I'll post the actual firearms I'm thinking of later on.
Please, let's assume factory loadings.
Just curious if anyone here has any experiences with a 1.25" wide belt.
Most of my belts come from either Milt Sparks or Bell Charter Oak, but in 1.5" and 1.75" widths.
I've noticed some accelerated wear and tear on my dress pants because of the smaller loops.
I think I want to try a...
I'm interested in everyone's reliability perception (or experience) between Ruger and S&W double-action revolvers.
I'm talking about reliability meaning if you need to draw the gun and fire, it will go bang. I'm not talking about out of spec ammo or hot handloads. Let's leave ammo quality...
I've been primarily a revolver person since I started shooting, but the allure of the semi-autos have also always called me to them.
I recently got a new Glock 26 (9mm, sub-compact) and got to try it out at the range for the first time yesterday. I had a malfunction on the 3rd round on the...
I took my new G26 to the range today. Jammed on the 3rd round on the first mag. Quick tap/rack did not clear it (stuck). I was able to easily remove the mag and work the slide, which cleared it. I was using WWB 115 gr. FMJ. There was an empty stovepiped straight up. Out of 210 rounds fired...
I've never done IDPA, but I'd like to try. My primary goal is to get more time behind the trigger of my carry-suitable guns. I'd like to leave them as they are (which is completely stock):
Sig P239 (9 mm) TDA
Sig P220 (.45) TDA
Sig P228 (9 mm) TDA
Colt Series 70 Repro (.45) SA
Glock 23...
Anyone have any pics of a snubbie w/ a nubbed hammer? I have lots of dao and traditional da/sa wheelguns, but am interested in possibly nubbing a normal hammer and retaining the da/sa functionality.
My understanding is that Elmer Keith wanted the .41 Magnum "police" to be a 200-210 grain SWC traveling around 950-1000 fps.
What semi-auto caliber (factory loadings) would come close to this?
