Minnesota lawmaker proposes bill to require license for gun owners

I'm sure the state senator knows that criminals will certainly get a license for their illegal guns...lol

Has the current firearms / ammo / component situation changed your shooting habits ?

I got back into air rifles/pistols around 12 years ago during the last shortage. While I do have real ammo stocked up, I do enjoy the airguns as they are cheap to shoot.

    It's 1940, what's your CCW?

I would probably use a snub nose .38 or one of those old Colt Hammerless Pistols in .380 ACP.

Can storing a dirty gun damage it?

Yes. Condensation/moisture can cause rust and ruin a barrel.

    Sports Authority Air Rifle Discounts!

I just picked up a nice .22 cal Ruger Air Magnum with a scope for about $140. Sports Authority is going out of business and my wife and I went to see what they had. I was surprised to see this rifle on sale for the price. Our local store has only this model; other stores may have more options.

    Ever Had a Scope Failure?

I have had a China made 4x cheap scope fail. It worked pretty good for a while. For some reason, after a few years or so, the crosshairs would rotate! The scope held a zero, but the crosshairs would be messed up. I did not have iron sights on the rifle, so a new scope was needed.

Do any of you guys carry in a coat pocket?

Both my wife and I use a pocket holster and carry in a zippered coat pocket. We think it works well and allows easy access.

Opinions needed on repair of rifle

I once had a gunshop "forget" to let me know that repairs were done. I needed a new rear sight on a revolver and was told it would take a few weeks. Two months went by, so I finally called them. The work was done weeks ago and they claimed that "someone" should have called me. I picked it up...

    New job...suggestions for conceal carry...

Try pocket carry. Get a pocket holster and try a lightweight .38 hammerless snubby or a sub-compact semi auto. Pants that have deeper front pockets seem to work best. Also wear a good belt to help keep the pants up with the increased weight in the pockets.

    Taurus Revolver Stigma

My first snubbie was an all steel Model 85. It was barely used at a great price. I gave it a good inspection and took it home. The fit and finish are actually pretty good, and it shoots well.

    Win model 100

I used my grandfather's Model 100 in .308 decades ago for deer. I had the firing pin replaced free when they had the recall years ago. I had ejection problems until I noticed that the extractor was cracked which cost $90 to replace. It wasn't a bad rifle, but it wasn't as accurate as I hoped it...

Department store firearms? What ya got?...

There were more than a few Coast to Coast and Western Field guns around my Dad's family. Here's a link for the varieties of store brand firearms: http://www.wisnersinc.com/additional_info/store_brand_house_guns.htm

Be careful of CCW class prices

My wife and I paid under $70 each for our CCW class. Some of her family members had the class and they had recommended the instructor who was a former LEO and a current NRA instructor. It covered a lot of info including videos with shoot/no shoot senarios. A friend of mine took his CCW class for...

    S&W Airweight vs LC9

My S & W 642 with the rubber grips isn't too bad for recoil. However, I'm not sure I'd want to fire hundreds and hundreds of .38 Special +P rounds through it in a short period of time. My neighbor just got the Ruger LC9. I have to admit I liked shooting it and the recoil wasn't too bad...

    Taurus 85?

The model number should be stamped on the cylinder crane. Open the cylinder and check it out near the front of the cylinder. I also have an all steel older one and it is not +P rated. You might be able to put a few higher +P rounds through it without too much damage but it is not...

    Baton Legality in Maryland

I think carrying a concealed baton is illegal in most places. Pepper spray and a legal knife may be a more legal option.

    Weird dealer at a show.

Politeness and honesty go a long way. That goes for everyone. I won't ask them to cut a tie unless I'm really serious about buying it after inspection. If the price is outrageous and they won't budge, don't ask to cut the tie as you have no intention of buying it. If I am really serious about...

    Carry on a Bicycle

In my city there have been some thugs who have assulted cyclists and walkers both during the day and night. My wife and I use fanny packs for bike rides and power walks. I think they work well, and they have some extra space for ammo, ID, wallet, pepper spray, cell phone, etc. I tried other...

What to carry on a road trip, when you can't carry

My wife and I carry pepper spray and folding knives on road trips. The knives sit in the bottom of the pocket and we don't use the pocket clip. In some places we've been, knives and pepper spray are essentially illegal and a visible knife pocket clip can attract LEO attention. Be discreet.
