    Acronyms on Gunbroker?

While perusing on Gunbroker, I keep seeing the acronym "MIB" used in the description header. I have no idea what "MIB" describes. Here's an example: MIB 1972 S&W 10-4 4" HEAVY BARREL .38 SPECIAL.... I understand that NIB stands for New In Box. I can't believe that it's just a typo; there are...

    Make & Model?

I've been trying to locate one of these (see picture) but I can't remember the make or model of the rifle. I believe it's chambered for the Win 30-30 cartridge; and, it's obviously a vintage rifle from a second tier manufacturer. I'm thinking, guessing really, Mossberg, Ithaca, Stevens, etc...

    Drilling hole in RCBS press?

Has anyone drilled a hole in the base of their RCBS press? I'd like to provide a direct escape route for decapping primers. What I'm not certain of, is the type of cast iron used for the press. Some cast iron drills easily and other types just eat bits. Any experience or suggestions? thanks...

    Thoughts on a S&W Model 49 Bodyguard modifications…

I have this basically “beater” Model 49, .38Spl that I was thinking about having the cylinder cut to accept moon clips. That conversion is pretty cut and dried, makes a reload muy quick, and doesn’t hurt the gun muy mucho. Then I notice on the website (http://www.moonclips.com/) that he can cut...

    9mm meanderings…

After many years of shooting and reloading, I’ve finally had my 9mm epiphany (hat tip) in the form of a CZ 75 B SA, along with the obligatory custom part upgrades. So, in the course of researching the 9mm, (because, I don’t know anything about it) and gathering components and myriad other stuff...

    British Imperial threads?

I’m making a new stock for a Vickers Armstrong martini type barreled action and the action screws are giving me a fit. The action screws seem to be threaded ¼”- 26, a non-standard screw pitch. I say, “seems to be” because the screw goes into a thread checker of a ¼”-28 loosely and at ¼”-32 it’s...

Stock Blank – what kind of wood is this???

I know it’s a tropical hardwood but not sure which one; rose wood, I don’t think so; coco bola, I don’t know. I don’t have that much experience with tropical hardwoods. Glued up blank was left in the shop ten years ago and I’m trying to squeeze a rifle stock out of it. Person who left it is long...

    Reloading press question

Rather than hijack and distract in another thread topic, here’s a new thread. I came across this quote from RC: “I would bet your sizing die is not screwed down all the way and 'bumping' over center at full ram travel. If it isn't, you are not pushing the shoulder back where it belongs.” So...

    Checkering Cradle

Many years ago, I bought myself a project: a Vickers/Armstrong .22rf, “Jubilee“ model with a broken stock. I could glue it back together and make it serviceable, but have decided to make a new stock for it from scratch. What I’ve had in mind is a beavertail stock similar in style to the stock...

    Nikon rocks

Purchased a Nikon Monarch 6.5x20x44 AO back around 2001-02. Tried using it on a .22 whose mounting system left a lot to be desired and was unable to zero it in, which didn’t surprise me much. A year or two later, tried it on a similar type rifle and had the same results. Finally after some...

    Rifle money pits ...?

So, you bought a new bolt action rifle, new to you, it could be factory new, or a mil-surp, Rem 700, Win 70, Savage 110 or they could be a used anything. If you could only make three (3) changes/improvements to the rifle, what would those three things be? Blue printing the action, new...

Light at the end of the tunnel?

FYI; there's hope... Just noticed the price of copper fell below $3.00 for the first time in years. Which is good for us/shooters, of course, all those copper jacketed bullets. That's down from a high of around $4.50 a few years ago. Just for comparison, it was at $1.50 at the start of 2009...

Estate sale rifle - can’t get the bolt out.

Stopped at an estate sale on the way home from shopping, looking for a slow cooker since mine broke. The lady at the desk said the guns are in the back room. I said I was looking for a slow cooker. As I entered the room, there’s a guy holding a very clean BSA rifle with a trigger shoe...

    Canjar Trigger History

Anyone know what happened with Canjar trigger company? They made a first rate trigger and I know they're out of business, but was thinking about them earlier today when I bought a used rifle with a trigger shoe on it and was hoping it was a canjar. No such luck. I ordered a bunch of triggers...

    9mm vs. .45acp: SOLVED

This should go a long way towards solving the controversy. Unfortunately, it won't be available for sale in CA/MA, so they'll get to continue whining. I'm sure Arsenal Firearms would be willing to accommodate those wanting it in 9mm for the LEFT barrel and 45acp in the RIGHT barrel, or...

Gun Stores in the Twilight Zone…

Anyone else found one of those gun places where you think you’re stepping back in time about forty or fifty years ago? Rather than flying somewhere, I prefer to take an extra day or two and meander my way there. Taking my time on the local highways and byways, rather than the interstates and...

Question: I see the beauty of the AR 10…

It’s calling me hither. Actually, the STI .400 Corbon project I envisioned got canceled, so I sent a donation for Joplin and Col. Allen West and have decided to go with the AR 10. Never cared much for military type rifles, a la Quigley, but starting to see the need in that direction. I’ve...

I was at a gun show the other year...

and this person had a whole table of hand made revolvers, supposedly made by an in-law, over a lifetime. They were all low pressure rounds, .22s, 38s, 32s, etc. They were so unique, I bought one. A lot of file marks and hand tooling and parts that looked like they didn't belong together. I...

    Buck Knife Return…

About 30 months ago I bought a Buck knife and after about a year the liner lock kept getting harder and harder to release. Finally, I returned it and they sent me a newer model of the same knife. Year and a half later it also started having issues with the liner lock, i.e. it gradually started...
