Went yesterday and shot my .45 acp Mech-Tech. Noticed that all the cases has quite a bit of soot on them after they were shot.
Not sure why.
Not enough powder? Not enough crimp? Not enough?????
Load is 200gr 200 Grain RNFP coated Missouri Bullet.
4.4gr WST
2.19 oal
WLP primers
Frame is...
9mm 124grn JRN. H. Universal. Shooting it in a S&W Shield
Trying for some mid range loads.
Looking in the Speer #12 reloading manual it shows 4.5 min to 5.0 max.
Looking on the Hodgdon site it shows 3.8 min to 4.4 max using a 124 GR. BERB HBRN TP.
Now I have no idea what 124 GR. BERB HBRN TP is...
After pulling the bullets out of about 1500 reloaded 9mm that someone else reloaded. In checking them I found these cases that I am tossing. Have no idea what happened.
What do you thing could have happened to these cases?
thanks

Just got a used S&W 9mm Shield. Front sight is a red fiber optic rod. It slides forward and backward and am wondering if I can just take a soldering iron and flatten it so it won't slide back and forth.
Not sure it will come out the way it is but don't want it to do that while I am shooting...

I started pulling the bullets today on non marked boxes. Bullets are 124 grn FMJ. I did weigh them. In dumping the powder it looks like Unique (have some and compared). All the boxes that are...
S&W Shield. Lady wanted $300 but thought that was too low so told her $350. Yeah I know but her husband just passed away and don't really want to cheat her.
2500 rds of reloaded ammo. Not sure if I like that but all the boxes have data on them so maybe it's not a bad thing.
What do you think...
Have a Springfield 1911 that has a broken Bomar rear sight on it. Would like to remove the base on it but can't remember which way the sight goes in. I think from the right. Before I go beating on it would like to verify this.
Anyone know which way?
thanks

Have a Ruger M77 in 22-250 and a T/C in 223 with 10" and 14" barrels.
I'm trying to use some/all the same components.
Would like to stay with 50-52 grain bullets and hopefully the same powder.
If powder won't work I would like to shoot the same bullet so I can buy them in bulk.
Anyone have...
In my other thread (http://www.thehighroad.org//showthread.php?t=574058) I asked about loads for Unique. Went out just now and was going to load more powder and I looked and the only powder (least I got this right) on my bench was Bullseye. I have been asking for info on the wrong powder.
All...
The only powder that I could get that was reasonable was Unique. Hear lots of people say it's a good powder for mid-range 357 loads. Darned if I can find any data for it. Have lots of books some new some older but no real data for a load.
Anyone have a load they want to share for 357 158 LSWC...
Just got new to me a Security-Six w/4" barrel.
Of course I go to look for components and all I have is brass.
So I have to buy everything else so I thought I would ask here what powder do you guys think would be best for mid range loads. Don't want to shoot 38's thru it. Would like to use 158...
OK I know what it is but how do you determine what is the best weight bullet to shoot in what twist? Have a friend with a Sig Sauer 556 Swat Classic. he says the groups are not a small as he thinks they should be. I think the twist is 1 in 9. What weight bullet is best for it.
1 in 9 for...
