is it true, or just myth?

yep. I read the same article. it was in the late 80's early 90's. they actually drilled and tapped the barrel and installed a super hard threaded bolt. fired the gun. removed the bolt, and test fired the pistol with no damage that would render it unusable

No prob, I knew what you meant. I had to put the HD spring in my 4" 1911 to make it run. Mine actually HAS an extractor spring btw,,,,,,,,, Kimber with the external extractor, so such an animal DOES exist, just not in an ria, lol.

    Powder recommendation - .223

I've suggested h322 pretty much every time I see thread asking about powder for 223 ar15s. Several reasons I like it is sub moa performance, very clean burning, and one very important factor for me is that its very thrifty. With another common powder like varget, a charge of 26_27 grains is...

Glued To The Bench--a growing trend?

the majority of my shooting lately occurs out in the country where there are no benches, and at least 90% of fire is from ar15's and m1 garands from the standing position. that being said, the most fun i really have come from the bench. its just a nice way to spend a saturday morning. very...

Double Review: Swiss K31 and Gibson's Outpost

yes, gibson is pretty much the only place i feel completely safe when other shooters that i dont know are involved. ive heard people complain about very strict policies there that i consider good common sense, like clearing the line and staying behind the red line during all ceasefires...

Trigger Squeeze - Army Training Film

to be honest i do the surprise method, but not really intentionally. its a really short wait though. i cant hold indefinitely, so when i find what i think is perfect i squeeze through the pull fairly quickly, but technically it is a surprise. i would estimate the time applying pressure...

    M1 Garand - Questions/Concerns

agreed. its something different. you just dont really get it until you fire one, at least i didnt. i didnt expect it to bark downrange like it did. i was used to ar's and ak's,,,, sks's and such. totally different animal is the garand. i didnt expect it to return to point of aim so quickly...
