    Looking for ideas - 18" AR 15

I've been looking at Colt, Stag and Armalite for an 18" AR to work as a plinker, but also as something I can stick a scope on and reach out between 150 and 250 yards. Everything seems to be 14.5" - 16" carbine (or mid)........not a lot out there for an 18" or even 20". I don't know much about...

    Picked-up a new Stag

So I added another AR to the collection, simply because I got it for a good price and the current political climate..... Stag model 1 with their 'Plus Package'. The plus package, IMHO, brings the Stag up from a low/mid range AR to a low-end top tier AR, but that's probably a discussion for...

Missouri - SB656 (moved from Legal Forum)

Looks like Nixon's veto will be overridden without too much trouble, but it never hurts to call and/or email your local reps to urge them......2 days to go...

    922r and Nordic tubes

I just received my +3 tube from Nordic to "add" on to my Beretta 1301.....from 5+1 to 8+1. I'm not schooled on 922r compliance, but know enough to ask the question - am I not compliant if I add on the extension? I'm guessing I'm not compliant if I use the tube, unless I change out 2 or 3...

    Beretta 1301 Comp 21"

I just ordered a 1301 Competition with a 21" barrel to use as my new primary HD shotgun. I have spent the first 39 years of my life believing a SD/HD shotgun HAD to be a pump with an 18" +/- barrel. I guess I've changed my thinking a bit. I enjoy shooting all of my shotguns, and the old HD...

    New Walther PPS - problems

So I picked-up my BNIB PPS from my FFL, take it home to clean and lube for a range trip the next day. I load up the 2 mags that came with it and when I went to chamber a rd, it wouldn't go in to battery. So very messed up.... The rds, with both mags, would only chamber about 50% of the time...

    Should I dump a PM9

Just looking for some outside opinion.... I recently bought a Walther PPS; love the way it fits in my hand, and how it shoots. I also own a few other small autos - a Kel-Tec P32, a Ruger LCP and a Kahr PM9. The .32 and .380 are just fine in my collection, but seeing as how I have never liked...

    Redhawk refinished

I want to give a shout-out to Eric at Helix Gunsmithing in Arnold, MO. I love Ruger revolvers, but hate the way their stainless guns look from the factory. He did a trigger job on this and bead-blasted it to give it that matte, S&W CS look. I think he did a great job.

Royal Blue Colt 1911 (pt 3)

I just spoke with Colt, and they are already getting it ready to go - faster than I could have expected. (Side note - the trigger is steel, so no problem) I have ANOTHER tough question...... the barrel. They have offered, at no additional charge, to replace the carbon barrel with a stainless...

    Colt Python Price

How much is a used Python worth these days? I was thinking around $2000 for a 95% +/- example, but then I found this auction on Bud's with over 4 hours remaining - https://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/auction_info.php/products_id/718003391/auctions_id/5400/page/1/auction_show/1 $3501.00 for a...

Royal Blue Colt 1911 (pt 2)

So, the question and poll I had up has a few days left, but right now 80% say go for the Royal Blue 70 - and I think I will. Here is a question though - I said I was going to keep it bone stock, but I forgot about the MSH (has arched). To me, functionally, it's a wash. But, I want some...

    Missouri Amendment 5 - M855 safe?

Last fall, Amendment 5 passed (overwhelmingly) in Missouri. This amendment is supposed to prevent enforcement of federal laws that violate the 2nd amendment. I know other states have similar laws in place, and my question is simple - could these state laws be used to ignore the ATF if the M855...

    Royal Blue Colt 1911

I recently picked-up a new Series 70 that I am going to keep bone stock, but.... I also have a hi-polished Browning Hi Power (factory) and I am wanting to display them side by side. Yes, I do/would shoot them on occasion......a few mags a year. Here is my question - Colt will refinish it...

    Custom holster for CZ 75B

I have to give a shout-out to my friend Jack who owns J.B. Custom Leather. He has been my FFL for years, and also made my PM9 holster a few years back. Last week, after a lot of searching, I asked him to make me a CZ 75 holster. I was surprised to hear it would be his first, because he has...

    New Colt Series 70

Picked up my new Colt O1970A1CS today, and it didn't disappoint. Roll marks are even, and trigger is what you would expect from a stock 70 system. The barrel fit is very tight; the slide to frame is typical Colt - a little side to side play. The only thing that bothers me is the bluing...

    Opinions on finish

I'm going to have my gunsmith blast my Redhawk to a matte grey finish, but I want the trigger and hammer to have a case hardened look.......and it's stainless. Is there anyway to achieve a similar look with stainless steel? Or any ideas that might look good with a matte grey finish? I...

    Good pricing for new PM9

I'm not trying to advertise for anyone, but I thought I would post this price for a NIB Kahr PM9. This is by far the lowest I have ever seen them priced. $451 as of 3:26 1/25/15...

    28" Stevens Model 620

So I was given a Stevens Model 20 from a family member and I don't know a thing about them. It is a 2 3/4 chamber 20 gauge with a 28" barrel (and a silver bead front sight?). The wood is in OK shape, but the steel is bare metal, with the exception of the last few inches from the muzzle. I was...

    Sprinco, DPM recoil reducer

I can't find a lot of solid info on the web regarding recoil reducers, or what I'm most interested in - are they reliable, and does it help muzzle flip? Please no more bore axis talk :D I am thinking about purchasing one for my PPQ, but I don't know if they work, which is the best, etc...

Is my gunsmith bad, or am I picky?

So, after years of using the same guy, I had to find a new gunsmith because my old one "quit" the business. After years (literally) of searching, everyone kept pointing me in the same direction.....so I went and met the man. Super nice guy, quick turn-around (maybe the problem), very...
