The feed ramp of my 7 year old alloy-framed 1911 has definitely lost it's smoothness. Feeding isn't an issue yet but I don't see the problem fixing itself anytime soon and I'd really rather not wait until my daily carry gun jams when the chips are down.
The steel inserts are cheap enough but...
I was thinking to taking the sights off of my compact 1911 and was checking to see if anyone had this done already. Who did it and about how much would it cost to have done?
The Glock 17 is named after Glock's 17th patent.
So what was Glock's 7th patent, so infamously described in Die Hard? Is it possible to look it up?
Who knows, maybe it really is an obscenely expensive porcelin pistol he invented while visiting Germany.
I was sick of my old AR trigger. It was easily the worst of the bunch, long, heavy, gritty.
I started polishing the sear face but it still didn't help much so I stoned it and now it is absolutely awesome. In fact, it is second only to the match trigger on my Bushmaster Varminter.
Now I...
Every knife and every gun I saw was marked up 50% higher than it should be. It's got nothing to do with Obama, either, their prices were outrageous before the elections.
Their standard Marine Corps looking Kabar was $80! Smith and Wesson Sigmas pushing $500. Even those cheap plastic ammo...
Here's the scenario:
You have the opportunity to tell the Founding Fathers how badly their Bill of Rights have been butchered in modern times, what would be a recommendation for rewording it to take a crack at getting it right?
Put simply, how specifically would our rights have to be laid out...
I was looking around at Home Depot today and I noticed they had stainless steel cotter pins. The 3/32" pins appear to be the correct size to replace the firing pin retaining pin.
How much stress is the firing pin retaining pins subject to? I figure it can't be much since it's such a small...
The answer is really quite simple.
Instead of the media spending weeks harping on and on about "why" and "how" there should be a two-day all-out media blitz showing the shooter's mother telling us all about how he wet the bed until he was 19 and his ex-girlfriend describing his poor...
Let's say you pay your fee to the ATF and get permission to legally build and register a suppressor.
Could you then go to another country where they only cost $50 at the hardware store, bring it back to the states, show it to the ATF and say, "Hey, look what I made!"
Tell me what you guys think. I've built a few ARs and 10/22s but most of that simply entails assembly, not actual modification.
I've always hated the way my GLOCK 27 felt so I did the grip modification.
The slide release is extended and the sights are actually a combination of the...
Can you ID these manufacturer's marks? VIDEO ADDED.
I have two detachable AR carry handles. I'd like to know what brand they are.
I'll give you a hint, one of them is Bushmaster. It's the other one that I don't know.
Below is something I just found on my second hard drive. The digital date puts it in 2001, when I was still in college, so I'm sure it's something I wrote for a class.
Tell me what you think.
I can pick up a quart of this stuff for $5 locally and was wondering if anyone has ever seen or, better yet, used it before.
A little bit of research shows that it's made by Castrol in Germany. Beyond that I know nothing about it.
My brother still lives in New Jersey. He bought a M&P 9mm back when the two extra mags were being offered. What I did what had him send the two extra magazines (17 round capacity) to me since he can't have magazines with a capacity greater than 15 rounds.
This problem has reared its head...
I just picked up a Magnum Research sp-21 and am plain baffled as to how to field strip it. There don't seem to be any of the usual methods.
Anyone know?
I picked up a Colt Official Police, 4" barrel, for $100 today thanks to a local gun buy-back.
It's in really nice shape and would like to know the following.
What year was it built? The serial is 8512XX.
Can it handle .38 +p? There looks to be a lot of meat between the cylinders but...
Let 's say you were cutting down a shotgun and paying your tax stamp and all of that.
Why not go ridiculously short on the barrel? I don't mean 14" or 7". I'm talking 3". Just enough room for the crimp to expand. Theoretically you could cut it even shorter so that the crimp expands into...
Actually, it didn't happen. Until I really gave it some thought, I've always supported the "Private property rights trump constitutional rights" theory. As we know, it is often the argument given to when a person is denied entry into, or thrown out of, a public establishment.
I've always...
