If you can shoot it clean at 3 yards, you can hit a human-sized target at 100 yards. I proved this a couple of Alumni Training Weekends ago when I had 56 out of 57 students hit at 25, 50 and 100 yards after shooting Allen dots.
Possum,
I'd recommend that you do not start with skills/precision...
I no longer work for Tactical Response so take my opinion for what it's worth.
Advanced Fighting Pistol isn't about pistol skill. It's about Mindset. You have a job to do and no matter what, you need to get that job done.
It has become cliche to talk about how so-and-so school teaches...
I taught the Fighting Pistol class where she is shown shooting on the move.
She is shooting a Glock 19 with several dummy rounds in her magazines. The malfunctions are purposeful and she doesn't skip a beat clearing them.
She is a remarkable young woman. She was definitely one of my favorite...
My advice is to not game it next time. You know that what you would have done in the real world wasn't what you did in this scenario because you heard and saw what had happened to the students who went before you.
Good role players are the key to scenario-based Force on Force. Any idiot can roboticly stick to a script. Role players should have general guidelines of the goal of the scenario and then work to guide it in that direction without being too artificial.
There are no prerequisites but students who take The Fight should have had some professional training that covered Mindset, tactics, skills and the legal issues involved in the use of lethal force.
I completely missed your question yesterday.
I used to tell students that they had a disabled limb. That never lasted under stress. Now I just disable it for them.
We had a lady come up and ask if we were vandalizing into the day care next door.
Yeah, with 3 marked cop cars and a few unmarked as well sitting outside.
AND if we were vandalizing the place, do you think it would be a good idea to walk up and ask us if we were?
:rolleyes...
Once you have this class under your belt, come train with us and learn how to fight with your pistol. We'll be hosted very close to you.
