I have 2 mosin nagants and a pump shotgun that i left with a friend when i deployed to iraq. Would like to get them back now... but I moved to a different state. (Texas) What's the deal... do i have to have him ship them to an FFL first here? then go pay the transfer fee on my own guns? If...

    m1 garand problem

we are using commercial ammo.. didn't realize we shouldn't.... I'll stop immediately. It only had about 2 boxes through it. some of it worked, some didn't. I'll get some surplus GI stuff immediately, and see if that solves my problem.

Needed in Austin, TX - XD45 sear spring

Just like the title. Due to some retardation on my part, i need a sear spring for my xd45. Anyone know of a shop in the area that might carry it? Or perhaps someone in the area who upgraded theirs have the original spring they'd be willin' to part with. BTW: I'm finally back from iraq and...

    Central Texas THR members

Heh. Not a yale or princeton type nitwit. I'm more the "started at state, changed to online to complete degree in Iraq" nitwit. Thanks for the info. CHL being a priority, it's great to have an idea where to go right away. It's amazing the change in cost of living from san diego... I paid 1300...

    Central Texas THR members

Well, my time in Iraq is finally coming close to the end. I have less than 2 months left, and a good section of that will be sitting around "waiting" to leave once our replacements take over the mission. That said, I'm not returning to the People's Republik of California, I'll be moving to...

From a US Ranger in Irag

Quote: "I actually don't support the war or the troops. Volunteers, at this point, have had plenty of warning that they'll be be fodder for the economic and religious pissing matches the government sustains. Signing up with that knowledge is just aiding and abetting." Except for the...

    Outgoing Soldier

Well, a surefire works well. Some are issued, but not one for every soldier. The batteries are readily available. I get cases at a time from my supply NCO The most useful "toy" i have over here is my ipod. I also have the Altec Lansing "tube" dock for it. It's a big long tube speaker thingy...

    Shoulder holsters in Viet Nam?

here in Iraq, at least in my unit, the powers that be pulled all the M9s from the vehicle crews to issue them to the HQ pukes. Now they don't have to carry their rifles to the chow hall, PX, etc. For those of us lucky enough to have kept them (or dumb enough to blatantly defy the "no personal...

Little bit of gun fun in Iraq

the ELCAN is a cool optic, but to be honest with you, it's a pain to use from a vehicle when you're doing our mission (we don't always stick to the roads.) So now we just shoot it without the optic. We did mount a PEQ-2 to it, though, for night use. Makes things a tad easier, and the IR...

Little bit of gun fun in Iraq

Yeah... that 240 is super reliable. I actually prefer IT on my truck to the Ma Deuce. Chews up anything you throw at it :-) including dirty ammo. LOL

Little bit of gun fun in Iraq

I try to deflect it with that humorous comment. No offense to the thankers, but I feel really awkward being thanked. I joined the army to protect americans, and I'm not doing that here. Plus, I'm only here because I got out of the Army and was forced back in with the IRR callups. So...
