    Recommend a bolt-action .22lr

I'm looking to pick up a decent bolt-action .22 in the future. I have a few criteria: - cheap-ish (not looking to pick up a CZ or anything, looking more in the $200 price range) - aftermarket aperture sights available - 10 round magazines available - comes with swivel studs to mount...

    Making new guns look aged?

Has anyone had any experience with making new guns look older? For example, making "wild west" guns like single-action revolvers or leverguns look more cosmetically old (without affecting functioning)? Just curious! Thanks in advance.

Fixing up and old Remington 500-series?

So, I recently inherited a Remington 511 Scoremaster from my father. The rifling in the bore is still intact, and seems to be in perfect condition after the patches I ran through the bore stopped coming out green. However, the bolt sticks during the up/down portion of the bolt's travel, like...

    Fundamentals of rifle marksmanship?

I've been doing some light Googling, and I've found plenty of how-to's regarding shooting EQUIPMENT (rifles, scopes, etc.), but not very many articles or web pages on actual shooting technique (breathing, trigger control, shooting stances, etc.) Are there any good web pages or books that can...

Red dot sight - Mk II 22/45

I am trying to figure out how to mount a red dot sight on my stock mk II 22/45. Done a bit of googling, and it looks like I just need to have it drilled and tapped to put a mount on top - how much does that generally cost, and is there an alternative mount that replaces the rear sight instead...

RWS 34 spring air rifle w/scope?

So, I've managed to get my hands on a RWS 34 as a birthday present. It comes with a two-piece (I believe) scope mount and a 4x scope. My question is...are the scope and mount that comes with this decent? Or should I be looking for a better scope/mount right off the bat? Thanks in advance...

    Out-of-spec barrel-cylinder gap on a new S&W

So, I bought a new Smith & Wesson 442 from a gun show today for $389 plus tax (a pretty good price, I think). I didn't bother to check barrel-cylinder gap with my feeler gauges because it was brand new in box and I assumed it would be in spec. However, when I got home, I measured it out of sheer...

Lifespan of a modern pocket pistol?

So, I'm just curious...which pocket pistols are the most durable? I've heard from various sources that guns like Kel-tec and Bersa tend to beat themselves to death by 10,000 or 12,000 rounds. Is this true? Are there any more durable pocket pistols out there?

    Anyone torture-tested subcompacts?

So, I've seen various torture tests for pistols, such as the Glock 17. I was wondering, has anyone bothered to 'torture' any subcompact pistols? Perhaps the baby Glocks, Springfield XDsc or HK P2000sk? How do you think the chopped-down versions would hold up?

    Smith Wesson 908 problems

Okay, so I own a Smith & Wesson 908. I went to clean it this morning, and somehow when I was putting the slide back on, I managed to mess it up such that the guide rod was sticking out too far from the end, but I couldn't get the slide back off to fix it (it was hung up on something). So...

    All-steel snub for pocket carry?

Does the extra weight of an all-steel snub (Smith Wesson 640, 649, etc) really make that big a difference for pocket carry? I'm pondering a 5-shot snub, and can't decide between the 638/642 and the 640/649. I've already got a good, solid belt for carry (www.thebeltman.net). Thanks in advance!

    Parts breakage in revolvers

So, I know a lot can go wrong in autoloaders (extractors can break, they won't feed with too powerful/weak ammunition, etc.) What are the common parts that can break or wear in a revolver, and what causes them to break/wear? Thanks!

    Cycling rounds over and over?

I've been thinking - say you carry a gun everyday, and you unload it when you get home (to dryfire, or whatever). Will cycling the top round through all the time when unloading eventually keep it from cycling normally? Thanks.

    P2000 versus P2000sk - how big a difference?

How big a difference will the reduced grip of the P2000SK make in terms of concealment? I'm 6', 150 lbs, living in Texas (it's hot and humid >_<). I'd be wearing it IWB, under a loose t-shirt or button-up shirt. Also, is the difference in sight radius really make the SK that much harder to...

    3rd gen Taurus Millenium quality?

Okay, so I've heard a lot of good and bad about Taurus guns. Just out of curiosity, without any of the pro-Taurus or anti-Taurus zealotry, what is the quality of the CURRENT 3rd generation Millennium Pro pistols? Is it really markedly different from other guns in that price range? Please, only...

    Smith & Wesson 908S - decocker?

So, I'm in the market for a single-stack 9mm. However, I can't seem to figure out whether the safety on the Smith & Wesson 908S is a decocker or not, because if it isn't it would allow for cocked and locked carry. The Smith & Wesson website isn't too clear about whether it's a DA/SA with...

    double-stack subcompacts - which one?

Okay, so I'm thinking of picking up one of the following for concealed carry, and I wanted opinions on the concealability and shootability of each: Glock 26 Springfield XD Sub-compact Smith & Wesson M&P Compact Heckler & Koch P2000sk Thanks in advance!

    Compact 1911s and reliability?

I'm sure this topic has been beaten to death, but what are your thoughts on the general reliability of smaller 1911s (3" barrel or so, 6 round magazine)? I'm thinking about getting one as a CCW gun (I just love the looks of the 1911), and I'm just wondering if any particular company had a...

Used Revolver Checkout - a dilemma.

So, I've been planning on getting a used revolver for a while. I've bought some feeler gauges, and even tried the checkout method on my dad's old Model 10 (which, I'm ashamed to say, has a cylinder gap of .06-.08 and some timing problems to boot!). Here's the problem: I haven't been to a...

    Older snubnose revolvers?

I'm in the market for a small-framed, short-barreled revolver, and I don't really have more than $300 or so to spend. Not knowing much about older revolvers, are there any older (but of quality construction) snubnose revolvers that would retail in my price range? Intended use is concealed carry...
