Agree with all said before.
I own a P22. It's been 100% reliable, but accuracy is a bit lacking. It is no comparison to a Buckmark or similar.
If you're looking for a .22 that is "more like your carry gun" the P22 is a great choice - given it's design (exposed hammer, magazine release...
The bullets are "armor piercing" so it may be banned before long - or the ammo for it. Something to consider.
The mags would be reduced by half as well should a Ban be reinstated - which is currently unlikely.
I was having some problems with a recently purchased Walther P22. A very simple suggestion from a fellow THR member helped me figure it out and now I have a sweet shootin' pistol.
The fix was simple, but having no experience with fixed-barrel pistols, I didn't even think about it.
Anyway...
Wow
I had no idea this post would draw so much attention.
Part of the reason I posted this was because it just feels good to know that weapons carried by Americans and the U.S. military are manufactured in the United States (some of them aren't, I know Beretta, FN, etc). It's not...
Just curious how many guns each of you bring to a 'typical' range trip?
I typically bring 3-4 guns. Usually a "range" gun, my carry gun, a .22 and something else.
I'm wondering if that's too many. Should I just be bringing my carry gun and spending all my time on that? Should I switch...
As far as the gun being around for your kids, I'd have to give it to the Ruger.
The P-Series is built like a brick sh*t house and will last no matter the round count - in my opinion.
That said, any of your choices are good and likely to last.
P-series for me. Especially if you don't...
Looks like GunsAmerica - whatever that is. Any guns shows coming to town?
For what it's worth, I took a two day class with a guy sporting a RIA 1911. 800 rounds and no cleaning - not one failure I saw.
I am always surprised to find-out certain guns are not made in America. I am not a fan of protectionism necessarily, but it is nice to buy a product made here if possible.
That's not to say buying ANY gun at a local store is not a good thing because you're supporting them (albeit to a lesser...
I can't say enough about Kahr - mine has been 100% reliable. Sorry I can't comment on the Sig.
I imagine either to be a solid choice - the Sig is definetly going to be more difficult to pocket carry.
You are dead-on with a solid belt. A good .22 is another terrific investment.
I'd also avoid trying to dress, and then decide what I could conceal, instead of concealing and dressing around it...
Hate to do it like this, but I've fired four 1911s extensively in my life. The Kimber and Taurus jammed consistently (Kimber was still a low round count).
The most reliable was a Springer Mil-Spec.
The greatest surprise was a flawless RIA 5" that was a very solid shooter.
I'd go with...
I think somebody responded, but that's just a +1 grip - 7 rounds. Helps grip the pistol as well...
I usually carry flush and the finger extension as a a reload.
Hate to say I agree with 'loop', but...
I take it these weren't on a rest?
At 30' you should be able to shoot 1-1.5" groups (free hand). I typically do that with my HK USP...although usually on a good day
Highway Robbery
They are going for about $520 at every gun show (VA), and the last show one guy had a sale for $499 cash.
Look around online - you should be able to find $550 at least. Or buy used - plenty of people buy a gun and rarely shoot it.
Wyocarp - I wish I could answer you, but as the title implies, 'I believe it, but can't prove it'...so it's really just a feeling on the matter.
That said, I've read a few articles (probably only a few over a couple of years) of instances where people have been hassled for open carry...
