Rifles in .357 and .44 magnum

my experience is limited to 2 recent rossi 92s, mine and that of a pal who got his a few weeks after me, but both will feed .38 wadcutters...i can't think of a tougher test.

    Lee turret holder project

dicktxx, got friends to save the small cans for me while i buy the stuff from sam's, too; i save $$$ so i can afford other shooting stuff. :o

    lee classic turret press kit

i remember questioning the statement of a self-styled expert who said "all lee equipment is junk!!!"...what a firestorm! you guys speak from actual experience, not prejudice. re. buying a lct to augment a dillon for pistol and short runs of .308s: my three dillons (two sdb's and 550) sit...

Approximate number of primers in Lee Spent Primer Tube

i shortened the tube, ran it thru a hole drilled in the cap of a medium-sized vitamin bottle and secured the cap to the tube with a hose clamp. every so often i unscrew the bottle and empty it.

Is there now extra demand for Maks, P-64s etc?

il.bill, i have two of the p-64s...i love ordering pistols on my c&r! :D two mags came with each; single actions were good but the double action lived up to its rep. this web-site is informative for spring change info; don't go too light. http://www.p64resource.com/forum/index.php the da...

    Recycled Lee Mold and Sizer....

mcdonl, that's the mould; it feeds and shoots well in every .30 or .303 i own without a trace of leading when gas-checked, lla lubed and sized .312". i don't reject a bullet with a wrinkle unless the base is imperfect. i'm happy with the 100 yd, off-hand, "minute-of-milkjug" accuracy, but i...

    S&W Model 58-1 .41mag

swampwolf, 58's are cool; lucky derby said it before i could...m10 on steroids.

    Recycled Lee Mold and Sizer....

mcdonl, my favorite mould is lee's 165g tl design that casts at .312". i tumble lube and seat gas-checks with a .312" lee sizer. every thing .30 caliber likes this bullet at .312" over 17.5 gr of 2400...my jap 7.7, mosins, enfield .303s, .308 wins, and my two savage 340s in .30-30.

Hell of a time sizing brass

788, i'm an old-timer who got on the tungsten-carbide sizer-die bandwagon over 40 years ago...how did you stand steel handgun dies for so long?

Is there now extra demand for Maks, P-64s etc?

i love my single stack 9x18's. (p-64 and bulgy mak) if you want more capacity, the czech cz82 is a 12-rounder. i doubt if the single stacks will be in trouble initially, but if i wanted a cz82, i'd get before the hysteria gets too much traction.

    S&W Model 58-1 .41mag

in the mid '70's the mod 28 and 58 smiths were the two best buys in the market. when we came to our senses, their prices actually surpassed the upscale 27's and 57's. i prefer the .41 mag to the .44 mag in the n-frame smith. there's a bit more meat left after boring the cylinder and the power...

Is the Colt Python worth the $?

years ago, i had a 5" s&w 27 and a 6" security six; i wanted a python, but wouldn't shell out the $$$. after getting an s&w 586 because it looked like a python, i realized i preferred it to the much pricier colt and still do.

To gas check or not to gas check?

irocz, lee moulds are inexpensive and their tl designs work; no sizing, just a squirt of liquid alox and load. a 2-cavity and bottle of lla costs less than gas-checks. i prefer the 6-cavity version which increases output without the fatigue from 4-cavity iron moulds.

    Single Stage Rifle Press

gloob, you either have phenomenal luck with lee presses or you're an experienced handloader who knows to investigate unusual resistance instead of bulling through an operation. i prefer lee's classic cast presses because i do some case forming and swaging, but all their stuff works. gee, i...

    2400 in .30 Carbine

havok, it's been a while but i think they sent me a new metering bar. dillon is tricky...they sell stuff that i have gotten for free...maybe it depends on how you talk to them. good luck!

    Lyman #55 issue

killer, i got started 40+ years ago with a #55; it works, but isn't the easiest powder measure to use...three adjustable cavities complicate it. a single-adjustment style like rcbs' duo-flo(?) is lots simpler. i like rcbs' 'lil dandy with a fixed-rotor (simple and safe) for handguns...it's...

    2400 in .30 Carbine

setting up a Lee 6 cavity mold

mentioning bull shot's sprue lube is 2-cycle motor oil wasn't to cut the guy from any business, i thought he was done. a pal remarked that bull plate's stuff looked like 2-cycle oil. i experimented; it worked. i'm glad bull shop is up and running...they have lot of good stuff.

setting up a Lee 6 cavity mold

super string...lots of good info if you read it though and follow. i like lee's moulds, especially the six-cavities...low cost and weight, good quality. aluminum's weakness is galling from lead smeared under the sprue cutter. bullplate (no longer available?) or 2-cycle motor oil applied...
