New to black powder, just got a 1847 Walker. The only thing I could find in stores near me now is Triple 7 FFG, which I have read is fine with this gun (vs FFFG). I'd like real black powder, that's tough at the moment.
Triple 7 is hotter than black powder? How/when do I take this into account...
Hey y'all. I'm pretty new to cap and ball revolvers, just getting started in them this month. I know that a lot of paper cartridges are/were lubricated before being loaded into a weapon, and when not using paper cartridges, folks encourage either using a lubricated wad between the powder and...
Is anyone familiar with what this is a replica of? It's listed as "CVA ARMI SAN MARCO HARTFORD MODEL BLACK POWDER REVOLVER", although the barrel says Navy Arms. Google doesn't bring up much using the listing name (Mostly Hartford Model SAAs), and while I might be missing one of the odd, less...
Out of all the conversion cylinders RD , Kirst and Howells which is considered the best, I have all three and really the only differences I see is the velocity allowed which by Kirst is 1000 fps all the others are at 800-850fps. I am interested in taking the extra 1860 pietta I have and turning...

Help would be appreciated.
No markings on top strap.

It was working...
Hello all,
I am looking into getting a cartridge conversion of a Uberti Colt 1851, and I have been wondering how powerful of a black powder cartridge I could use in the gun, and what I could feasibly make for it. I am hoping that maybe some of you others have already tried this out on your own...
So my wife got me this Colt Navy replace that's made by Pietta. I've had it for some time and I love shooting it. The problem is though it's a fickle little b!tch.....
I took it to the range a few weeks ago. Fired off a few rounds through it. One round got stuck in the cylinder even after...
recently I kind of got intrigued by black powder revolvers. I’ve never held or shot one before and I’m hoping the pros can share some pitfalls and tips about ownership and use based on experience. Any models/ manufacturers that would be a good choice for a rank amateur to buy and try?
I have...
