To Shoot or Not to Shoot

I picked up a 1944 DOU k98 Mauser from an auction recently which is all original/matching (including bolt) except for the floor plate. Minor patina/wear but 90-95% bluing remains, and stock is in great shape and has its original finish. Original sight hood and cleaning rod also. I think I...

    German K98 unknown stock markings

I have had this German k98 for about two years now, and have recently found out what looks like to be lines on the stock of the k98. They are on the underside of the stock (where your hand goes) I've done alot of research and this gun was a Russian Capture if that helps determine anything. I...

    Yugoslavian k98 sniper rework?

Hey guys, I have this rifle that is an all matching k98. It was either captured during the war or bought post war. The receiver has been scrubbed and the preduzece 44 restamp. This is not an m48. What perplexes me is it has a claw-type mounting system similar to the low turret bases and a...

    Shooting Matching K98

I just got my hands on a matching BYF made in 1941. This would be my first matching milsurp, and I want to be able to shoot it regularly. I am already getting a new firing pin, so I don't risk the matching pin getting broken. Any suggestions besides that? I plan on only shooting...

    Mauser bolt take down ring

Are the K98's the only mauser that have the bolt take down ring in the stock? I found a gun listed just as a mauser, not much else for description. It does have the ring though and if I could at least narrow it down to a few that have that... I think I'd be able to identify it.

    Is a Yugo 24/52c just a rearsenaled czech vz24/g24t?

I found a "Yugo mauser 24/52c" for sale for $300 online. I was wondering if these are just the same as a yugo 24/47 with intermediate action, or if a 24/52c is a captured cazech vz24/g24t with the large ring 98 action since the Germans issued something like 350,000 of them to troops. So is it a...
