Hey guys,

I have this rifle that is an all matching k98. It was either captured during the war or bought post war. The receiver has been scrubbed and the preduzece 44 restamp. This is not an m48. What perplexes me is it has a claw-type mounting system similar to the low turret bases and a scope with integral mounts. I have checked all the repro mounts and these match none. It’s my understanding this is an earlier Yugo rework, and things weren’t “standardized” as well in the Bosnian war, there was no real standard to rifle models. I will post photos, any help is appreciated. The truth matters of course, and I understand it May be bubba.

Those look like EAW claw mounts:

High quality, not cheap.

Somebody put some work into this rifle.

What brand scope?

I just purchased it. Took a risk on gunbroker. It wasn’t at K98 sniper prices, but not cheap either. Just around $1000, so we will see if it holds up to the value. The work looked convincing and of enough quality for me to take that leap. I will post better photos and and the brand of scope when the rifle is in hand

Those type mounts are normally silver soldered to the rifle and the scope.

My experience with EAW mounts was perfect alignment every time scope put back on. I never had to check zero. Tolerances are that tight.

Looking forward to it. My two bucket list rifles are original (or nicely done) scoped K98 and Springfield 03-A4. Gibbs had a repro 03-A4 that looked ok. No longer produced.

Good luck on the gun! Love the design, love the cartridge.
