Muzzleloading Pressure, Recoil, and Velocity
By Randy Wakeman
For some reason, these three factors are often thought to be directly related, whether the muzzleloading propellant of choice is black powder, Pyrodex, Triple 7, or smokeless powder used as a black powder substitute. They are NOT...
Relatively new to reloading, especially 9mm: I recently received my 9mm RMR 124 gn TCFP match winners and 124 gn JHP wanted to run my thought process by those more experienced:
I’m using Win231, have had great success with 4.3 gn behind Berry’s RNFB at 1.14” in CZ P01. Got the RMR’s behind good...
Note that when using Alliants 2400 powder , with a magnum primer, pressure will be higher when compared to a standard primer.

Hello.
I’ve seen old black powder revolvers with very thin cylinder wall thickness, like these cylinders for example:
and this pepperbox has also resonable thin walls:
Back in the days the quality of steel was inferior, so it got me to wounder about the steels of today.
What’s the minimum...
Recently it came to me while mulling over the expenses of getting the .45 colt/.45 acp redhawk and eventually getting a .454 super red hawk cylinder for it, versus getting the super alaskan and eventually getting Hamilton Bowen to put a 4.25" standard redhawk barrel on the gun,
that I could...
Hello,
We all know not to use smokeless powder in an old BP-only gun... I won't do it, I swear.
I wonder however why that it... BP burns faster and has a fast pressure rise time. It would seem logical that smokeless would be less harmful to old guns, assuming equal pressures.
Do old guns blow...
I am wondering how fast we could get a handgun bullet to go. Let's assume that metallurgy is not a problem. Use a barrel with a 12 inch diameter and a battleship breech lock. No matter what the barrel will not burst.
Given this assumption, how fast could we get a bullet to go? Can we triple...
what effect does the case length have on pressure, accuracy and overall performance of a cartridge? I am reloading 243 win and have been trimming to 2.033 inches. Max length is 2.045... If I go to 2.040" what can I expect to happen?
thanx in advance for your expertise.
