“Duty” tested guns..

Duty proven guns...I've got several whose model types have been carried/approved by LEO or military personnel; but only three that were actually used in one of those capacities. I personally carried a Remington-Rand 1911A1 & a S&W M-15, and a Browning Hi Power while serving in Vietnam. I now own all three model types, but only the 1911A1 actually saw combat.

My Sig P226 MK25, & P220's were issue weapons at one point or another for either LEO or military use, but neither of mine was actually carried by uniformed officers. Lastly, I have a Luger DWM in .30 Luger caliber. A 1920 manuf. gun, it has German police markings that qualify it as a "Duty" gun.

All that said, I do feel better armed with larger "duty" sized guns which preform with better accuracy and comfort than my usual carry choices: (a Smith M-60 .357, or a Sig P365), though the P365 runs very close accuracy wise.

For the most part, on given day, with chores to do on my daily tour of our farm acreage, I usually choose one of the larger handguns from the safe. But, I like a lot of different guns, and if I've got play time in the schedule, I'll choose a different piece depending on my mood.

Best Regards, Rod

All Im saying is, you have no idea as to what kind of use, misuse, wear, etc on them and now youre choosing it for a weapon that youre going to trust your life with, and if youre serious about it, will be putting a lot more wear and tear on it, unless you buy a couple and work on wearing one of the out in practice.

Slight point. My original premise was not used or surplus guns.

Given a choice between a brand new Sig P226 or a Springfield XD (as an example) I would prefer the P226 as it has a long and distinguished military and law enforcement pedigree.

Three guns with a martial pedigree, first time I have shot anything in over 6 weeks.

5-7-10-12-15 yds with 9mm WWB 124 gr fmj, through the Kimber 1911, SA-35 and CZ 75 Shadow 2.

I will admit my hold had my right thumb pushing up slightly on the SA-35 safety lever. This was causing the trigger pull to increase as I was shooting, I didn’t figure it out until I was done with this target. This is one thing I need to remember with this gun, I am happy enough to have kept them in the ink. :)

The guns with a military pedigree are OK by me. ;)

Stay safe.

I'm waiting until that comes out in 10mm.
I plan to pocket carry everywhere.
Does it come ready for RDS?

:D

No RDS. But it does have Tritium night sights and It actually can be direct fired. I mean, if things are so bad that you're direct firing a 198 you better get whatever you're shooting at on the first shot but it can be direct fired.

It probably works almost as well as 380 in SD scenarios...

I carried a tiny lil .380 pocket pistol for a long time and kept my "duty" grade G19 in my carry bag and was pretty comfortable with that arrangement for the better part of a decade. Carried the .380 daily on my person while at work with the duty gun off my person in a bag close by.

Now, I basically do the same thing except whenever I'm not working and I'm going to a place or doing a thing, basically anytime I'm not on the job I'm carrying a G19 I'm a DeSantis leather/kydex IWB.

There was a period of time in the middle where I was carrying my G43 but the more time I spent on here, absorbing different opinions and input I decided that a real "duty" grade handgun with a respectable 15rd capacity was better. I tried to carry the G19 years ago in a different holster but I didn't think I could do it comfortably and gave up on it for a while but if you find the right IWB it's very doable. It really didn't seem any better or worse in terms of comfort and concealability than my G43. You get used to CC'ing a larger duty gun after a bit.

Here’s a couple of mine. The Glock 26 I carried as a duty gun from the early 90’s until I retired in ‘09.

Before that I carried a revolver like this one, but a blued model 10, from when I got on the job in ‘69 until we transitioned to the Glocks. This model 65 revolver has numbers above the trigger so pretty sure it was a duty gun.
