ok, i am just geting started at this relaoding hobby. i just resized some once fired 45-70 brass, (hornady) and when i checked the case length (after resizing) the cases are averaging 75 thousandths of an inch shorter than the max length listed. is this normal? i checked the zero on the dial calipers and triple checked. it seems like a lot for something that i am interpeting as "precise". just to be sure, my book says case length of 2.105" and my cases are 2.030-2.035". am i missing something? besides 0.075"! lol, haha!

It's normal to be a bit short. In fact, it's better. The maximum listed is as long as you'd ever want them to be. If you'll look at the "trim to" length listed in the manual, you'll find that it's recommended to trim to 2.095".

Hope this helps.

Fred
