1 vs. 2 Piece mount for AR

Easier quick detach I suppose.

What's your general use of the rifle?

If it's a heavier caliber is say 2 seperate rings from badger or similar. Do you run BUIS?

If you have a plinker/comp gun with a 1x4 then a qd one peice is what I'd run.

Most of the one piece mounts solve the problem of not having enough receiver space to fit two rings on a normal profile scope.

You don't want to mount one ring on the receiver and one on the railed handguard, unless you have a monolithic receiver.

A 1 piece also let's you cantilever the scope farther forward. Depending on your scope and shooting style this is needed on an AR.

For 1 piece you also get the rings machined together so there's no need to lap the rings since they are much more likely to already be aligned.

This summer I broke down and bought a Night force. I also purchased a Bobro quick release one piece mount. What a smart move. If I'm working on my Ar, or cleaning it, I pop the scope off and leave it in the safe. Decide I wand a 3x9 instead of a 5.5x20, bam! Done. It sucks coughing up the cash, but no regreats.

One advantage of a one piece is they're available with 20 MOA cant for long range. I went with the Nikon 20 MOA mount for my 308 AR it's a good mount but far from a quick detach

I see the Nikons and the pepr model - are there lighter weight models?

I have been using the Millet 1 piece mount. It allows me to use the Caldwell pic rail mounted brass catcher when I have the scope on my ar. I remove and reinstall the scope often with no drama. I have a red dot that gets about half of the action.

FYI, Wally World had the Millet 1 piece mount on closeout for $30.00 recently. I think I spent $60.00 on mine.

The Cowboys just lost an onside kick by Da Bears. They are trying to lose, but I think they will win anyway.

At least Nikon makes a two piece mount, the P-223 if I remember, that is cantilevered like the one piece mounts. The advantage to them it allows for a bit more flexibility in ring placement on the rifle.

On a number of my ARs, I use a picatinny rail mounted brass catcher and the two piece mount gave me some better options on placement of the brass catcher mount.

The one piece mounts would be more rigid.

I like the fact that the rings on my DNZ Freedom Reaper ring/mount combo are aligned, and they have never left a mark on my scopes - I'm on my seventh DNZ mount, three are on ARs. I've been told that the first CNC pass cuts the ring centers, can't be misaligned with the resulting torque on a riflescope.

Bonus that they are made in the US of A by 'Mericans in North Carolina. Go Tar Heels!
