I love shooting all of my 22s, but somehow I've never managed to pick up an autoloading rifle. I reckon if I'm going to get one that pretty much means I should get a 10/22. I'm kind of leaning toward the target model (seems like it would go well with my CZ 455 Varmint bolt gun) but kind of thinking about the LVT model also. The model 11165 with the fancy walnut stock and 22" barrel looks very nice too, but I'm afraid it might be a little skinny for my tastes.

I'm trying to find a list of barrel diameters for 10/22s but I'm not finding much on the Googles.

I know the heavy target ones are .920", but what about the LVT, the 20" & 22" Sporter, and the standard ones?

My standard carbine mic's .555" at the muzzle. My LVT .708". The LVT shoots better than my CZ-452 which has been gathering dust lately. Mine is 7 1/4 lbs as shown with scope and mounts. Just about the perfect balance between being easy to carry and easy to shoot.

That looks pretty sweet. I've kinda been looking at the LVT with the blued barrel. I think the model is 1235. For some reason I've always liked the heavier bull barrels.

Have you considered building your own custom 10/22? Then you won't have to worry about compromising on which factory model comes closest to what you want.

I'm just bringing this up as an option because I recently started hunting with a 10/22 that I've had for about 10 years and wasn't happy with the accuracy I was getting at all. I ended up basically replacing everything but the receiver to turn it into something I was really happy with.

If you're generally happy with factory guns, I don't see any reason to shake things up. If you like to tinker, you'd probably save yourself some money and time to just start from a bare receiver and build what you want.

The thought of doing that did cross my mind, but I wasn't sure I really wanted to go that far.

Whatever I buy, or build now that you mention it, has to have a nice wood stock. I'm a sucker when it comes to a classic steel on wood setup. Just takes me back to a simpler time, and kinda reminds me of guns my grandpa owned when I was a kid :)

Why does that gun have 4 scope rings?

Those rings look like Weaver Quad-Lock rings to me. I've got a set of them on one of my centerfires. They look pretty good on a 10/22 ; I could envision my scoped 10/22 with some of them instead of the "old school" Weavers currently on it.
