A buddy of mine has a gun collection that's worth about 75 grand. No one item over approximately $2500. I've been with him on numerous occasions when he's dropped two to three grand on lunch break. Today he bought a Beretta CX4 storm, had the barrel threaded and a red dot for $1400. Oh - he did get 4 boxes of 9mm sub-sonic with that...

Needless to say - I can't hang.

I was with him about 18 months ago when he bought a Ruger 10-22. The Smith put a threaded, short(not SBR), bull barrel (Tactical Solutions) on it. It also has a Tapco stock with a $150 scope and several extended mags. Grand total $1175.

Oh - and he may have shot it 100 times...that's a big maybe...

I want it bad!!!

Here is my question to y'all...

What it worth? I - of course - know what he paid for it. But bottom line - it's still a Ruger 10-22. (there's been no trigger work done on it)

He said he's gonna sell it to me...

Help me out...

Thanks.

Are you sure it came to $1175? That's one seriously decked out 10/22 but it doesn't have trigger work? Mine didn't break that including the suppressor and transfer fee. If it's really worth that much I'd offer him $500 since you can build one yourself just as accurate for $500 (it's fun too!)

If you purchase your own 10/22 we are looking at the following rounded figures for simplicity:

10/22 ruger $280
Tac sol barrel threaded $220
tapco stock : $95.00

Add all items comes to $595. and you can buy accessories an add to it. check this site.

Or you can buy this already and add your own barrel if the stock holds a bull barrel or .920 from these guys and add accessories from aforementioned site on top.
Choice is yours

I'll help ya. Don't pay half that for everything you could possibly wanna do to a 10/22 (to the point where it is hardly even a 10/22 anymore)!

dude seriously that guy is overpaying by huge amounts. Having a gunsmith work on a 10/22 is ludicrous in itself.

You can peice together the same gun for a fraction of that, so many 10/22 parts floating around on the internet you can buy used.

My tricked out 10/22 didnt cost more than 500 bucks.

I agree with dom1104. You could build that 10/22 two times for that much money. I doubt that it would bring over $400 on Gunbroker.

You can buy a new 10/22 for under $200. There are hundreds of new/used barrel and stocks floating around from uncompleted projects. I paid $150 for a new .920 barrel and thumb hole Fajen stock.

Does this thing have an OEM Ruger factory receiver, or is it something like a Volguartsen, M.O.A., Tactical Innovations or a Clark receiver?
It may even have a proprietary made receiver, all of which will drive the cost of a custom 10/22 to the top floor!

Let's see....
Receiver...$400 to $1000 Yes boys and girls there are proprietary made, roller bearing, Nitride coated thousand dollar receivers!

Receiver innards...$200 to $500 Bolt, Bolt Handle, Extractor, tuned and installed, Ejector,Titanium firing pin and a good spring, Buffer, Rollers, if it is one of those beasts, Pins ect...

Trigger group, complete...$300 More IF it was pieced together with all the latest hi-speed, low-drag components...not necessary, but some folks do this.

Barrel... $200 to $500

Stock...$100 to $1000 Yes again, we built some custom stuff with thousand dollar fancy custom stocks!

Incidentals and peripherals...Magazines, Extended magazine releases, Rails, Paint and or Polish, weights, ect... I would be afraid to put a dollar amount to the endless combination's that one could do with this stuff!

The Smith...$100 to $700 Your going to have to pay some crotchety old smith, sweating in a build room that stinks of bluing and parts cleaner to put it all together...IF you want an accuracy guarantee and or you just don't want to build it yourself.

So, you see...a 10/22 can cost $1150, depending!

If all this particular rifle has is a $200 threaded TacSol barrel and a $100 Tapco stock and all the other parts are OEM Ruger factory....somebody got hosed...BAD!

Find out what this rifle is made up from....

At those kinds of prices I'd say he is more proud of the money spent that whats in the collection. Shop smart if you don't have money to throw away.
