I know a guy that swears he has a Ruger 10/22 lever action, in .22Lr.
He also states the model stamped on the rifle says 10/22.
(I have not seen the rifle) I told him that it was in fact a model 96/22.
He states he bought it new, from walmart, and I do know his wife is regional sporting goods manager for wally world.
I have reasearched this question on line, and found no instances of a 10/22 lever gun.
Is it possible that receivers for the model 96/22 and 10/22 are interchangable, and a mistake was made at the factory?
Thanks for your input!

I don't know if they are interchangeable receivers or not, but I doubt it.
Or it could be a mis-stamp I suppose.

But if it is a lever-action it is not a 10/22, it is a 96/22.

I had a 96/22 and the receivers are not interchangeable with the 10/22. The barrels, mags and sights are.

Thanks folks! That's what I thought, but I realize I don't know everything! I guess seeing is beliving, I will update the post when I see it with my own eyes, in about a week!

Just pinned the guy down, asked him to "PUT YOUR GLASSES ON AND LOOK AT THE MODEL NUMBER"
He did and it turned out to be a model 96/22............ He was going by what his wife told him, that 10//22 magazines and mods would work on this firearm.
Thanks again, I knew I would get to the truth on here!

There is a 10/22 receiver with a toggle bolt that is not semi-auto; it's like a biathlon rifle.
