I let a bunch of boys abuse their shoulders this past weekend with a few older rifles (Enfield #4, M44, Turk Mauser, SKS). Lots of :what: & then even more :D .

How cool! You can see a sort of nervousness in his face and then when he fires off that first long burst, he comes up with a big grin!

You've started something and it's going to be expensive!

Now that was awsome. I have a 10 year old son and he shot his first hand gun( walther p22). It makes you feel as nice and warm as the shell does when its first ejected.:)

You have my vote for "Dad of the year".:)

I let my son start shooting this summer. He's eight. So far he's fired an old Springfield single shot bolt action .22, a Rossi Matched pair .22/.410 and a S&W 317.

The magazine Machinegun News used to occasionally have a photo of some grade school aged youngster firing full-auto. Especially in issues that were covering Knob Creek. Kinda makes you think there will always be someone around to carry on the gun control fight when the rest of us have passed to that place where all firearms are legal with no paperwork and ammunition is free. :)

I wish I had photos of a five year old girl who once fired my Uzi on full auto.
She held it as I showed her and I knelt beside her with my hands lightly on the Uzi in case she wavered in her control. Biggest grin I've ever seen.

Looks like a happy kid. Good job.

I took 2 of my nephews aged 11 and 13 out the other day and let them shoot the FAL, SKS, Glock 19, and 20 guage 1100. The 11 year old is turning out to be a really good shot. This was their first time with the FAL and it's been a while since I've seen eyes that bright:)

Teaching a youngster to appreciate shooting is one of the most important things we can do in this day and age.
