Went to fairly large show yesterday in Des Moines, after @ 2 hrs i saw a Bushmaster [used] that was in mint condition. Price was 669.00$

I had taken my H&K compact [variant #1 - 357sig] to maybe trade on something that caught my eye.

This gun is in 99% condition.

I go up to the guy who was running this set of tables and inquire about the rifle i had been looking at. I then asked how much he would allow me for my pistol?

He opens the case and takes a quick check. He replies "nothing"

Of course i gotta ask why?

He replies because of the caliber the gun is chambered in.

I see that the Gun rags have smitten this gent, i try to explain that numerous Law agencies; federal & state & county shoot this round chambered in either Sig or H&K products. I also point out that H&K 40 caliber barrel will fit in this weapon.

I might as well been talkin to a fence post.

I then said, would it be more of a problem to move the gun because of your abilities as a salesman?

That went over real well....

:neener:

Later... see a Colt Gold Cup [new] for 750.00$. After looking the Gun over i ask how much he would take for mine.

He says, yeah, if it would have been a 45 or 40 caliber he would have traded... but not in 357sig....

I 've learned my lesson, smile and leave through the nearest exit.

.357 Sig is not that popular among the common folk. It has made some big in-roads into the LE arena, but it will take several years before that trickles down to the little guy.

The dealers want to move product off of their shelves, and buying a gun in a caliber that may sit on their shelf for a year isn't smart business. Of course, I'm surprised they didn't offer you SOMETHING. Everything moves at the right price, but I doubt that you would have accepted $150 for the H&K.

I had a similar problem a few years ago selling an HK USP Compact in .40. It wasn't the caliber, it was that all the vendors said that they couldn't sell such a nice gun at the shows they frequented. If it had been a Glock or a Beretta, sure. But not a HK.

In a world of compromise, lots of people...DO! :D

All the folks I work with...both us contractors and FedGov security/police types...think .357SiG is the feline's PJ's.

Even those Feds who have to use S&W M12's as duty carry.

Some folks just don't get it.

Regards,
Rabbit.
