Isnt 10mm plinking ammo nearly twice the cost of 45acp?

I ask because one day i HOPE to get a Glock 20 or 21, a 10mm would be cool to have but if the 10mm ammo is waay more i see no reason to ever get 10mm over 45acp

10mm ammo prices vs 45?

Thanks

10mm is pretty much a reloading proposition anyway, from what I hear. You can probably roll your own for close to the cost of reloading .45ACP.

10mm

I'd only buy a 10mm as a woods carry gun. Depending on where you are, .44 magnum or greater might be a better option.

Georgia Arms sells 10mm plinker ammo for $17/50. It's a truncated cone FMJ. They also sell hotter Gold Dots for $20.50/50, although Buffalo Bore and Double Tap load it much hotter than Georgia Arms. So it's no more expensive to shoot 10mm than it is to shoot 45, if you know where to look. Reloading is still the best, of course.

At times , Cheaper Then Dirt has had reloaded 10mm for a good price. You can always find a commershial reloader and just give them the brass to load for you.
You will not be sorry for getting a 10mm --- its like a 38spl. compared to a .357mag.
If you do reload you will find the cost to be the same as about any of the big bore handgun rounds -- I have been useing a Lee Pro1000 for the last 20 years -- cost me $99 brand new.

10mm is expensive for an autoloader caliber but not that expensive overall. Its about the same cost as 357mag. but you can easily go through alot more rounds. If you reload, like i do, the cost difference is minimal compared to 40S&W. Theres quite a bit of brass out there and it only uses a tad more powder and the same bullets as 40S&W. Its cheaper for me to reload 10mm than to buy 9mm ammo from wally world.

IMO, the 10mm is a far better caliber than the 45ACP. It can use a large range of different bullet weights, loaded mild for soft recoil, loaded hot for hunting or self defense and in most cases, it holds more rounds.

There is a huge difference in the power.

I have a Glock 20C and I often thought about getting a .40 conversion barrel and swapping it back and forth just to give me more options. It looks like the conversion barrels are in the &100.00 to $200.00 range and the Glock is $550.00 to $650.00 almost about a third of the gun cost at the highest figure but I could save on the .40 ammo over the 10mm over time so it may be a wash at the beginning... I'm still considering it if a deal falls on me.
