I recently bought my first 10mm, a Glock 20, and enjoy it. Today I saw a Smith and Wesson 1076 for sale at a store. It comes with no box, and only one magazine. It looks to be in at least decent condition, although I'm not the best judge on used guns. I can get it for $525.

Now, I also wouldn't mind getting the "baby" Glock 29, and perhaps get an aftermarket barrel (Lone Wolf?) for the 20. Having a limited budget, what would you do? 1076, or the 29? How does the 1076 shoot compared to the Glock 20 and how hard is it going to be finding extra mags and a holster?

(BTW, to those that have both the 20 and 29, how does the 29 compare? Accuracy, comfort shooting, etc.)

Thanks for any opinions.

Get the S&W Model 1076.
They aren't making anymore, so get it will you can.

If it's good enough to be a standard issue sidearm for the FBI, then it's good enough for you. ;)

Get the Glock 29 later.

I don't have a 1076, but I do have a 1006, and it's built like a tank. You won't go wrong if you get it.

Hope this helps.

I really don't like S&W. Even I would buy that 1076. (I even checked to see if you lived in my area so I could look for that gun.)

So did I LOL. I'd jump right on that If I were you. There was a guy around my area not too long ago selling a 1076 for $550, and I wanted it sooo bad, but had just spent my tax refund.

I've since seen 1066, 1006, and 1046 around these parts up for sale, but I would prefer to get the 1076 since I hate Smith's "backwards" safety and I don't want to have a long as hell DAO pull. IMO the 1076 is the best 10mm Smith ever made.

I had 1076 for a year or so. Hated the decock lever and trigger pull.

I shot my CZ75 style Witness 10 a lot better.

Still, with Tanfoglio changing the slide on the Witness..and ruining it.

The very solid S&Ws seem to do nothing but rise in price.
