11-87 question

Hi folks,

I have an 11-87 Premier Trap. Can I slap any ol' 11-87 barrel on this, magnums included, and still get proper function? Thought I read someplace that the gas system on this gun was different but I've also read that the difference is just in the barrel.

Any 11-87 barrel should work. The difference goes with the barrel.

The barrel has to be the same shell size, 3" 3.5", 2 3/4" as the reciever. Other than that it should make no difference as the gas port is part of the barrel.

Okay now, that's 2 completely different answers now. How is a Premier Trap receiver going to be different from any other 11-87 receiver?

All 11-87 receivers are the same and will take up to 3" EXCEPT the Super Mag, which yours isn't.

Thanks! That's what I thought, but figured it's better to make sure. Too bad it's hard to find blue barrels for 11-87s now to match the receiver.

I don't know the answer to your question, but have heard differing views. Not saying anyone here is wrong, but it is the internet and no one knows who is qualified to answer correctly. Sometimes you can get enough answers all saying the same thing and feel pretty comfortable about it being right. When you get conflicting answers it is probably safer to just call Remington and ask them to be sure.
