hello,

I am a newbe and just purchased a moosburge 500, 12 gage shotgun. I tested the shot gun loading after watching a Youetube Video on this gun and tried loading two 12 gage fale bullets (one wit hsprings inside them). now, no matter ho wmany times with safter on I keep racking/pumping thos etwo shells wont pop out! it keep firing though!?
i can see the bottom of one of the fake shells in the mag "lower tube".

anyone can help me with this please?

thanks,

Masood

Sounds like either the ejector is broken, or the rim of the cartridge is broken where the ejector grabs it.

well, its just a new device! its the frist time I have inserted shells (those red shells with springs insie them - don't what they are called!?). how could it be? i am not saying not possible and thanks for sharing your thoughts with me. it acts like it is firing but as mentioned it desn't pop out the shells.

Thanks,

Masood

They are sometimes called snap caps although the shot shell version may have a sexier name.

Maybe the rim is too small and the extractor is not picking the snap cap up. Maybe it is tight in the chamber and the extractor won't extract it.

Other suggestions already made are good.

If a shell stays behind in the chamber, the firearm doesn't know if was ejected or not and the firearm gets cocked on cycling the action. This is as long as something else does not jam the gun up, like feeding another round from the magazine.

Forget the red plastic snap-caps.

See if it works with real shotgun shells.
It either will or it won't, but you won't know until you actually try it.

Until then, you don't have a problem anyone can give you an answer for.

Yes the picture is correct. i put two of them in it. I can see the buttom of one in the "Mag". I watched a good video on how to disassemble this Shotgun an dI guess I have no option but to disassemble it to bring out the shells.

I really appreciate all of your thoughts.

is there any way beside disassembling the shotgun to remov ethese two shells?

Regads,

Masood

I would take the barrel off and run a large diameter dowel rod down the muzzle and push it out. There should be a way to remove the shells from the magazine tube without cycling the action. On my 500, there is a small metal bar on the inside of the receiver that you can push on and eject one shell at a time from the magazine.

here is the same story someone else had posted under reviews for which Aristodemus posted a link.

"Awful. Tried these in my Maverick 88 (Mossberg 500). Worked fine first time. Second time, got STUCK in feed tube....base had been distorded by extractor, and left chips which jammed in tube. Pachymar aluminum snap caps worked fine many times. Will buy those in the future."

Based on this the shotgun is OK but the rim on this snap cap may have been chipped a way. Now, i wonder how i can take them out of the shotgun?

I would appreciate your thoughts.

Hi Juk,

on mu shotgun I removed the "Nut" or Cap scrw on teh top of the Mag barrel and looked inside with a flash light but I don't see any bars. I do have a Moss 500 shotgun - they might be different although same modle.
so you guys suggest I remove the barelle to be able to remove shells?

Thanks,

masood

Took the barrelle off but still cannot take those shells out because the are in teh lower tube or the mag. I can push the snap cap in "forward" spring acton but not Out. I don't see any broken part of the Gun or bent part either.

still trying to see how I cna remove thos etwo snap caps out!?

Thanks,

masood

inside the receiver I can see a long "wodden" bar! seems wodden but not metal.

I am trying to find something thin but strong and long enough to push the snap caps out!

let see if this will work!?

thx,

masood

Ok Removed them. brought them out.

1- took the barrelle out
2- used a bar and slightly pressed on a bar inside the received and that pushed the snap caps little out.
3- now, I pressed at the edge of the graber or I think th eextractor and the snap cao poped right out.

so, this may help others..
thanks for evey one of you who shared your thoughts with me. JUK was right on!.

regards,

masood

Put the barrel in by sliding the internal parts in using the release lever (I don't know the technical terms) and locked it up. it tested it "without the snap caps" of course and it seem to be firing well. the safety on is also working so it should be working. Now I need to really fire real shells and see..

Thanks,

masood
