I'm the very happy owner of a BCM 14.5" middy w/ a permanently attached FSC556. My experience is similar to Birddog1911's...my middy BCM eats everything. I have put ~1500 rounds through it (mainly silver bear 62gr JHP) since I got it back in October. I have shot it out to 300 yards with Black Hills 68gr BTHP's and Wolf gold 75gr BTHP's. The combo of a RRA NM lower, BCM upper and decent ammo made COM shots surprisingly easy. I would spend my ~$675 of my $800 on a BCM upper and not look back.

The extra little bit of barrel that I get using the 1.0 will make an almost negligible difference in velocity, but if it's an increase that doesn't cost me anything, I'll take it.

I often see 150fps used as the velocity loss per inch when you start chopping barrels down from 20". Never measured it myself but it's probably a fair estimate.

I just traded for an A4 Rock River Elite Comp with fold down sights and an Eotech 517 Halographic site. Upgraded collapsible stock. I have $1000 in. Good or not, in your opinions?

Observer this isn't really the appropriate thread for that question.

However to answer it I would say you have to much in for a RRA and an EOTECH.
Neither are really top shelf.
