LOS ANGELES -- A 15-year-old boy shot during a California burglary has died.

Police said a 59-year-old woman returned to her South Los Angeles home Tuesday morning after a walk and was confronted by a boy wielding a tire iron. She shot him with a handgun she keeps for protection. The woman wasn't hurt.

The district attorney's office will determine if the woman will face any charges.

Authorities aren't releasing the boy's name.

I'm sure her elected leaders (from LA) would prefer it if she had been beaten to death with the tire iron so that this innocent youth would have a lifetime of opportunity instead of being shot.

LA really does need a new sheriff who will start a shall-issue CCW policy.

There's substantial savings involved here. No court costs, no juvenile system cost, education costs (our schools win too), and more likely than not, no welfare costs (from pregnant unwed teenage mother). Sounds like a win-win situation.
