Well boys she came in today.

In a ASM box, looked like the cylinder had never been turned.

I took it out and fixed the short arbor as my first wee bit of work on it.

The fit and finish are superb! The stainless steel seems to be a high quality stainless series and is also magnetic unlike my stainless Uberti 1858

This beauty was made in "1982" .

I've been looking for this girl for a Long while and would have taken a old beat up one, I never expected to find a new one in the Actual Box.

Thanks be unto GOD for all things!

Now for a SS 1851 navy :)

That’s a beautiful pistol! I like stainless with a high polish… almost like nickel plate.

Mr.Woodnbow,

Do you still have Charlie hahns contact info? I tried his website but the server for the contact link is down and thus its unable to send him a message.

This girls in need of her chambers reamed and I dont want to take the chance on me flubbing it up.

I am sending the cylinder off to Mr. Hahn to be rebored to .456 and when I get it back I will make a video with it for you guys. The barrel has a real slow twist maybe a 1 in 33

I’m traveling right now but I’m pretty sure I have it. I’ll be back…

I was curious about the magnetism of my SS BP revolvers. It was a mixed bag.

All four SS ROAs are of what I would call "medium" magnetism as compared to "strong" magnetism of a steel revolver.

The 1860 and 1851 SS Colts exhibited no magnetism on the cylinders and grip frames but had "medium" magnetism for the barrels, hammers, etc.

The 1858 SS Pietta had "weak" magnetism for the grip frame but "medium" magnetism for all the other components.

Thats interesting to note. My cylinder was the sole thing that also had 0 magnetism.
I sent the cylinder off to Mr.Hahn today,
He really knows his stuff.
He explained that even the regular soft italian steel cylinders are stronger then the Italian stainless steel
He was a really nice and educated man to speak with. Id love to pick his brain on different metal compositions , I'm sure if anyone knows it'd be him
Thanks @woodnbow for the recommendation

It just depends on how it was made and what it contains. Non magnetic stainless is generally considered best. Magnetic stainless will rust easier.

Been my experience with stainless, and this is working with stuff that's not gun related, it work hardens very quickly, it can and does stretch, tensile strength varies quite a bit and it can be rough on cutting tools. Of course it all depends on the alloy and what it's being used for.

@Jackrabbit1957 Have you worked with many stainless revolvers? This is only my second stainless, my first being a 1858 uberti that has been very trouble free and extremely accurate.
This old Armi San Marco is beautiful but before i shoot it i want to make sure its up at running speed.
I figure with these old stainless colts they probably didnt expect many people to actually shoot them.
Well i intend on shooting the heck out of it!
