These seem awfully expensive especially when one considers how much they are to shoot but I'm still interested in one. The problem is I can't seem to find much user-input information on them. Anyone here ever own one or knows someone who does? What kind of quality can I expect with one? How about accuracy? I was looking at the carbine version but would consider the rifle with 30 inch barrel if it's accuracy warranted the extra cost.

I can tell you that Buffalo Arms lists the Spencers online at $220.00 cheaper than Cimarron.
I don't know what kind of dicount your dealer will offer, but this is good information for bargaining.

I've got one, in fact I'm in the process of loading some ammo for my club's annual match. Loaded ammo runs about $2/each, empty brass about $1/each. Fun little carbine to shoot. I shoot CAS/SASS matchs which usually require a 10 round rifle string, means I have to do a reload on the clock since my Spencer in 56-50 only holds 7 rounds. They are also available in a couple of pistol calibers but I haven't had any experence with them.

So do you single feed the last three rounds into the breech or do you load them into the magazine?
Also, is the action rated for and can you load cartridges with say, SR4759 or Lil Gun smokeless or do you have to load a blackpowder/blackpowder substitute load?

I use "Trail Boss" powder for my Spencer. It is easy to load the Spencer single round at a time, but I usually load through the magazine. I either use my "Blakeslee Box" or I have some copper tubes that hold 3 rounds and use them like speed loaders.

Minute of "paper plate", off hand, keeps them on metalic buffalos out to 150yds. This isn't a target rifle, the sights are basic and only have gross adjustments. I only use it for CAS monthly club shoots.
