I'm not finding the idea that Jap-made firearms are verboten just because the Japanese populace can't have them very persuasive or logical. With that mind-set, I suppose British-made Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles and Rigby and Westley Richards firearms are off the table too. Like what Driftwood Johnson said, "...What the heck does that have to do with anything?" and what CraigC said, "...I really don't care about who it is that makes them and wouldn't deny myself the pleasure of owning them, based on such arbitrary reasons. Japanese gun rights are for the Japanese people to worry about."
I hunt with my Model 1886 rifle so I wanted it as light in weight as practical and I wanted it drilled and tapped for a receiver sight. I have no experience with Pedersoli firearms but I've found guns made by Miroku for American manufacturers to be exquisite in terms of finish and workmanship. My Winchester (Miroku) Model 1886 "Extra Lightweight" replica is perfect for the heavy cover I typically hunt in. It weighs 7.25 pounds and has a 22" long barrel. I installed a Williams "FoolProof" receiver sight and sling swivel bases on it.
Oddly, in my case, as much of an otherwise "traditionalist" in terms of appearance that I am, I'm not offended by the looks and/or function of the tang safety or the rebounding hammer.
