Looking at adding on a light rail to my Kimber Custom II 1911. The add on rail I have found is the one sold in Brownells for $50.00, in black stainless steel. If anyone can point me in the right direction to a thread that is already on this site, or if anyone has experience adding on a rail to their gun I would appreciate any help, comments, or suggestions. My main concerns are:
- Do these add on rails hold tight, and last for a long time if installed properly?
- Will the gun, rail, and light fit the same light bearing holster as a Kimber Custom II that already comes with a rail?
- Any expert tips on surface mating preperations, adhesives/solder/welding materials that might help strengthen the gun/rail bond.
- A better rail (if any) that is better that the Brownell's brand?
Thanks for the help!
