This particular barrel would have never fit this particular slide without modifying the barrel face. I'll know more this week when my tools arrive and proceed to the next step.
Called a machinst/1911 enthusiast Bullseye shooter that I knew years ago. Told me anytime you mix barrels and slides be prepared for anything. He wasn't surprised with my situation.
I'll post some pics tomorrow, but my project 1911/.40S&W is complete. Considerable machining to the barrel was necessary to finally get things working well, pics will show this.
Finally got my infected laptop back so I can post some pics. This Kart barrel had to be reworked more than I ever thought, but it fits extremely tight in the barrel hood and lower lugs. With a MetalForm mag, it feeds flawlessly.
Great conclusion, schmeky. Lots learned every time we try something new and the next will be easier, but can have different fitting problems. More learnimng.
