I recently purchased a Citadel Officer 1911 that has issues with going into battery. I sent it back for warranty repair to no avail. Legacy (AKA Armscor) sub it's warranty work out. My Citadel wound up at Sports World in Tulsa, OK.
and it still will not go into battery intermittently. I have done a lot of research that points to the extractor being too tight. However, my tension gauge readings show 16 oz. of pull before the gauge releases. The recommended pull is 24 to 26 oz. suggesting the opposite. I could use some recommendations!

going into battery

I have a Citadel compact and had a couple of problems going into battery that were caused my my cartridge length. I checked for overall length with a different 1911 before I purchased the Citadel and they worked fine in one gun but not the other.I was able to go back and shorten the overall length and took it out today and no problems at all used round nose flat nose and semiwadcutter and all functioned great. Also i was impressed with how well I was shooting with such a short barrel and old eyes.

You might also check to see if the rounds you are using are fouling the chamber. I have a Kimber that when dirty powder is used ti will fail to to to battery. I changed my powder to a much cleaner burning powder and the problem went away. The fresh cartridge was hanging up on the left over burned carbon in the chamber.

Contact the manufacturer.

If they don't fix it you are left with a couple of choices.

Sell it or fix it on your own dime.

I had a Colt Combat Elite that was poorly built and peened out its frame in under 3000 rounds. It had an early unlock issue, probably related to the relationship between barrel and link. I sent the pistol back to Colt when the front sight fell off!

Colt replaced the frame but did absolutely nothing to fix the hard recoil and since the warranty was under five years, it was certain that the frame was going to peen out again after the warranty expired.

So I made an expensive decision to send my M1911 to Wilson Arms. I think the least trained person at Wilson Arms knows more about M1911 function than all of Colt Customer Service combined. Wilson Arms fixed the problem, and I spent a lot more money having them install a decent beavertail, a match barrel, Bomar sights, etc.

So I have at least 2X or 3X into this pistol, much more than it is worth.

But it works.

I'm not sure how the Officers models are set up but I've had a couple of full size 1911's that were slow to lock up and I had to install a slightly heavier recoil spring after which they have run 100%.

I think the stock spring on a full size is rated 16# and I just went to the next heavier spring, I believe it is 18#.

I don't know if the frame-slide fit was a wee bit tight or if the factory springs were perhaps on the low end of the specification but new, heavier springs got them running just fine.

Good luck.
