My 4th, and newest 1911, Colt Combat Commander XSE. And in the morning, the new Nag and I, get to go shooting together, for the first time. Here she is:
I just got the Gun Bug. I've had a Rem 870 Mag for years. I ordered two pistols from Buds. The SP-01 and a Kimber Custom II. I'll post pictures after I fire.
I am thrilled with the accuracy of the 1911. Don't get me wrong, I love my Glock, but the 1911 platform is just plain accurate!
I shot 135 rounds; 50 Blazer Brass 230 FMJ and 85 WWB 230 fmj. I did have a few failures to return to battery with just one of my mags. One of two Norinco mags, the other is a Kimber. This only happened with the Blazer Brass, and only on the very last round in the mag. Spring Issue????
The WWB functioned perfectly. I am assimilated
Question. How do you guys keep the Rosewood Grips looking new?
I have some dark spots on the grips now from when I cleaned and dirty solvent got into them.
Not my first though. I used to have a VERY poor Chinese made copy (dont think it was Norinco though). The machine marks on the frame were like they were done with a chisel.
These are like a jeweler did them compared to that old one.
Gave it a clean and lube today and will hopefully shoot it tomorrow.
This is one of my favorite carry guns. I've made it extra slim by replacing the extended mag release and thumb safeties with standard Colt parts and I've installed a set of davidsons slim grips. I also replaced the grips safety with an Ed Brown and the MSH with a Wilson. Finally, all springs were replaced with wolff springs.
She shows a lot of holster wear but I think it adds character.
