I have Colts, Kimbers, Springfields, S&Wsc, Taurus PT1911, Sig GSR, all in the 1911 platform. My advice (for what it's worth) is to get into the "1911" club with a reasonable outlay. Then shoot the heck out of it. The Taurus offers a "reasonable" outlay that has more "bang for the buck" than most. Does it have snob appeal? No. Does it go "bang" every time? Mine has. It just might be that you decide that the 1911 isn't your cup of tea, and a Glock, HK, or any of the other types is more to your liking. If you can't hit with it, save your money and buy a baseball bat. You won't go broke with the Taurus, and if 1911 is for you, buy the best (in YOUR opinion, not mine) that you can afford. I found that the 1911 is for me, and now have to decide on whether to get rid of the HKs, Kahrs, Berettas, Glocks, CZs ect..decisions..decisions.
