1911 IWB tuckable holster

I'm looking for a tuckable IWB holster for my Remington 1911 R1. I'm assuming that any holster that fits a 5" Colt 1911 will fit the R1 (someone please correct me if I'm wrong).

Any 1911 owners out there who have had IWB holsters they loved? Hated? I'm open to both minimal one-loop designs like the Desantis Sof-Tuc, and kydex-plus-leather two-loop options like the Crossbreed SuperTuck Deluxe, and I don't have a sense of which is more pleasant for day-to-day use.

I have a crossbreed and an alien gear holster for a 5" Kimber. Both are excellent. For the price you can't go wrong with the alien gear. I also have a custom made leather iwb holster from mernickle holsters, that's the best quality holster I have ever seen - they are expensive.

I don't use a tuck able so lets see if I have my facts straight, A tuck able is a IWB that allows your shrrt to be tucked between the Frame of the gun and the belt slide right? Wouldn't a 1911 in a IWB tuck able be rather uncomfortable and wouldn't you need to have baggie pants? I have several IWB and sometimes I carry either my High Power or Kimber in a Galco Courier, but that is not really deep concealment. I don't really believe a 1911 is meant for deep concealment unless you're 7 feet tall and skinny. Don't know, Even with my IWB I have to wear one size larger pants and the only way it is concealed is with an out side shirt or jacket.

A tuckable IWB is an IWB holster where you can tuck a shirt inside your pants but outside of the gun, so that the portion of the gun that projects above your pants is not immediately visible.

You're right that a 1911 was not really meant for this. On the other hand, it's thinness makes it a lot better option for concealment than a lot of other full-size guns, and most importantly, I already own it. This is a game of "making what you already have work for an additional purpose." And since I've already bought two guns in the past 18 months, my wife will string me up if I try to argue that I really really need to go buy a Sig P938 as well.

This is probably the most comfortable holster I own. It is actually MORE comfortable than some of my OWBs.

The long slits on either side of the holster pouch allow the shirt tail to be drawn down in between the gun and the inside of the pants, while the holster "wings" and belt straps stay outside the shirt.

Open the belt and pants, tuck the shirt in, and...now you don't!

Not at all! Really, the most comfortable carry holster I own.

No, not especially. If you're going to carry IWB, you need pants and a belt that fit. Usually about a size larger than you'd normally wear, but it's very dependant on you.

Meant for? It was meant for cavalry use. I don't ride a horse around much, though. And neither do most folks who carry concealed these days.

Right. That's where the "tuckable" aspect comes into play. To tell the truth, though, I've used a Summer Special II as a "semi-tuckable" rig, just by tucking a polo shirt in around it except right over the holster. Worked well enough, though not perfect.

Let's take a look...

If someone is crawling around on all fours, they might get a glimpse of the holster straps...

But most folks aren't ever going to see anything even remotely unusual.

I've worn this rig on long car trips, and recently to a rehearsal, wedding, and reception involving a whole lot of time in quasi-formal attire (for me, anyway) for several days. Couldn't ask for a more comfortable choice!

I am a huge fan of the CompTac Minotaur, and it's how I carried a 5" 1911 for years. I found it easier to reholster my pistol into the Kydex shell than into even the stiffest leather shell, and yet the leather body shield made it super comfortable.

I got my first tuckable holster last night....Wore it around the house with my T-Shirt tucked in and was extremely surprised and pleased as I didn't think this would work especially in Appendix carry. I thought it would print...I though it would be uncomfortable.

Granted I'm carrying a Px4 subcompact which is not near as long as a full size 1911 but it's way thicker and chunkier which is the harder to carry/conceal and be comfortable.

My Wife had seen the holster when it arrived and we were watching The Tube, playing with dogs and drinking tea and she said she like the "tuckable" concept but didn't think it would hide the pistol well enough. I was surprised as I was wearing the holster and gun and had been since 10 minutes after I got home from work.

I stood up and talked to her for a minute more...watched her eyes as I walked to the kitchen and back and could tell she had not a clue I was wearing the gun. So I told her I was strapped and she started looking for the gun.

Took her a long time to realize that the clip which was right next to my cell phone was the holster clip....no bulge (OK, a little but not noticeable) and with the tiniest bit of blousing of the shirt it is undetectable and comfortable sitting, making dinner, moving and playing ball with the dogs, etc. If I can hide that chunky Px4 I could certainly hide our Officers ACP or a Commander just as easily and comfortably and maybe even more so due to the thinness.

Tuckable works good. Can't wait to try it with other guns and baggier pants like Dockers or cargo shorts. I'm impressed and will be doing this a lot more and buying more tuckable holster styles.
