Since I've got a new dress code to try and work around, my old standby OWB isn't really gonna cut it anymore. Presently, I'm reduced to pocket carrying my P32, but would like to get back to a 1911, again.

To that end, I've been looking at the various tuckable IWB options. It looks like they fall into about three general categories: Full leather, full kydex, and hybrids.

I'm not terribly interested in the full kydex option, as that just doesn't sound comfortable at all, but am trying to decide between the full leather and hybrid styles. Among the full leather, the Tucker Gunleather Texas Heritage, the Milt Sparks Versa Max 2 seem like standouts. On the hybrid side, it looks like Tucker's The Answer, and the Crossbreed Supertuck seem to top the heap. The bigger production outfits, Galco, Bianchi, DeSantis, seem to build mostly ripoffs of those designs.

Any experience with the various types? Makers? Specific models?

I used to have a Crossbreed for a full size SR9. The holster was great, I liked it a lot. I never used the tuck feature however. For one, I almost never tuck in my shirt. But I also cant see how the butt of a full size frame would ever be able to conceil under tighter fitting clothing. Again, I never tried it, so I cant say for certain how it works. I generally wore a button-up type shirt, untucked.

I now use a Galco for my Jframe. As you stated, it is a nearly identicle copy of Crossbreed. The leather is thicker, which is nice, but more unforgiving in contouring to the body, and it has a tendancy to get a tacky feel on the skin. While both are minor annoyances, I never noticed these with the Crossbreed. I still dont tuck with this holster, but I think it would work great with this much smaller gun. It conceils very well in every Tshirt I own. And at 6'3 some of my shirts ate awefully short, and some even a little tight.

I have to mention my latest holster purchase. A Tagua slide. It has a metal belt clip. It is completely ambidextrous. It can be worn OWB or IWB strongside, weakside, SOB, crossdraw, appendix......or about anything else. Mine was made for a 1911, but the have other offerings.
FWIW, they are all the rage at my LGS.---$20.00

A great plus of the hybrid is that the kydex doesn't "deflate" like leather can when the weapon is removed. No business with your pants down around your ankles should you have to lock your weapon in the car safe or you're in a gunfight.

I've got four hybrids: Crossbreed (link), Foxx (link), and two RB Holsters (link) for different guns.

My Foxx is cowhide; the other three are horsehide. All are comfortable. The Crossbreed was the first I bought and is my least favorite because it creaks conspicuously despite a good deal of use.

The RB's are my favorite. They just barely edge the others out on comfort (and I do mean just barely), but the big difference is how well they hold their cant. All of these holsters use a single attachment point (screw) for each clip, but the hardware RB uses is unique in that when you set the cant you want and tighten the screws, the clips retain that cant even if the weapon wants to shift its weight.

On every one, I used a hairdryer right after buying to reshape the kydex around the trigger guard for tighter retention. I also have consistently had to add a single hole to each one's leather to get as great a cant as I want while putting the holster as deep in my pants as I want. On the Foxx, I also added an extra screw and T-nut to the forward clip so that the cant never changes.

I tuck my shirt in over a j-frame in an Alien Gear tuckable hybrid holster. Very comfortable and nobody has a clue I am carrying. The belt holds the shirt nicely between it and the kydex......your shirt stays put.

I have used a Stealth Gear Onyx http://www.stealthgearusa.com/ with my Walther PPS for about 8 months.
It's very comfortable, much more so than my VM 2 was, especially in the Summer months due to the ventilated construction of the Onyx. No pressure points either. Only change I made was to swap out the steel clips for polymer for easier on / off and they lay flatter on my belts.
