I have a Springfield GI 1911 45 that exhibits jamming with some mags, but works 100% with others. The problem is that the last round will feed and the gun will fire when the trigger is pulled, but instead of proper ejection the base of the cartridge case is jammed into the mag feed lips and the front of the cartridge case is jammed against the front of the ejection port. In this condition the mag cannot be released. The slide is almost always locked back. The only way to clear this is to use a screw driver or needle nosed pliers to pry out the case.
Is this strictly a mag problem or a combination mag/extractor problem?
