1911 Magazines of Choice

Just wanted to run a little poll here and see what people are using and what they prefer, as far 1911 magazines go. i am not really concerned about the mags that came with your 1911's, but if you are to buy 1911 mags which route do you go? Here are some of the most common.

(5) Wilson Combat ETM

I tried one of the two ACT mags that came with my S&W 1911
the follower only supports the cartrdige at the back half
they sometimes leave the last round totally unfed into the chamber
- the spring is less in strength than the WC ETMs. I put it back in the
Blue Boxx.

I voted for Wilson , But i have the same number of CMC and Checkmates as well. have had nothing but excellent service from all of them. And my factory Colt mags function fine as well.

You did leave out metalforms.

Only have WC47D and the stock Kimber. All perfectly reliable. Can't say anything about others, but I haven't had a misfeed with these.

I like the Colt factory mags. They have the same follower and feed lips as the original pre-WWI mags I have. Mine have the "M" stamp, so I guess they're from the metalform factory built to Colt specs.

Seem to work well once the newness wears off a little.

I use Metalform and Checkmate 7 round magazines exclusively, and of course Colt factory mags, which are actually made by Checkmate and Metalform!

Ive never had a problem with any Chip McCormic magazines, even the cheaper ones.

Only mags I've ever bought are Chip Mc's. They have worked fine in every one of my 1911s.

The 1911 gurus get pissed when I say this but; Down at the end of the counter at Specialty Sports Supply, here in Colorado Springs there's a old steel pot full of 10.00$ no name mags. I run those in a RIA and I've never had a problem W/ them.

My ship tossed a few dozen 1911 mags in the trash back in the late 90s. I went dumpster-diving seconds later, and they all reside in my home. I think I have 80 USGI 1911 mags. I still can't find better mags.

I use Colt factory 7 round magazines. The hybrid feed lips work reliably with every gun.

I cannot say that about the wadcutter feed lips on Wilsons or CMCs etc.
