1911.. my most accurate one

I've tried them all... well, maybe exaggerating a little but I keep coming back to my 1911.

I keep trying to like others but for me, nothing feels or shoots better than a 1911. Am I the only one experiencing these symptoms ?

Last week I purchased my first 1911: Citadel 9mm full size. I've been to the range twice with it and it's a great shooter! Cabela's had it for $100 off retail. Now will I ever take my polymer pistols out of the safe again???

I love 'em! Got way too many of them though (is that EVEN possible?). Calibers: .45, 9mm, .40, .38 super. Best one? likely my Les Baer.

First got a Sig 1911 Black Nitron finish, pretty nice.

Then I got a Sig 1911 Stainless Steel finish, really nice!

Both shoot great and more accurate than I can shoot them

I now use a Sig 1911 TTT, which is a combo of the 2 above pistols, with a match grade barrel, skeleton trigger.

It shoots awesome! AGAIN much better than I can shoot, yet.

I seem to lean towards Sig Sauer pistols, I have over half a dozen so far.

Any time I go to the range to shoot my black plastic pistols, I always find one of my 1911s has worked it's way into the mix as well. Want to guess which one gets the most rounds run through it?

I love 1911's and my favorite is a SA Mil-Spec I got back from Bob Miller in AZ. He did a lot of milling (ball cuts, flat top, checkering) and also installed his own sights. He also fitted a Kart Barrel and bushing. I had already installed a C&S ignition kit and then I got a pair of Larry Davidson's Horned Lizard grips. Sweet, sweet gun.

Well there are only two .45ACP platforms that are accurate enough for bullseye long-line work (50 yards, needs to hold 3" for 10-shots). The 1911 platform can be smithed to be accurate enough to do this or better. The only other platform I know of that can achieve this level of accuracy is the Pardini GT-45.

I have a Les Baer PII 1.5" and a GT-45, so well, I covered both. The GT-45 probably has the best trigger of any centerfire gun I have ever shot.

I have had two very accurate 1911s. One was a Colt Series 70 Gold Cup and the other is a Colt Combat Commander that was accurized by Colt's Custom Gun Shop.

I've had 4, still have 3, and would like to have a few more. Absolute best design for me, so I carry one. Wasn't really happy til I did.

This one started as a fantastically inaccurate Argentine 1927. I rebuilt it with a bunch of Wilson match parts, worked the trigger over, installed a BoMar rear and matching front and a beavertail GS.

It turned out pretty accurate. These targets were fired two-hand standing at 25 yds.

There's just something about a .45acp that will never go outta style. I recently picked up a Sig Carry Scorpion 4" barrel

Both my 1911's have custom fitted barrels and bushings. A Kart barrel was fitted by someone in Ted Yost's shop, the Bar-Sto barrel was fit by Irv Stone at Bar-Sto's shop.

With the 1911 trigger and fitted barrels, they are very precise shooters.

My most accurate is my Springfield "Loaded" Model (5" stainless) bought new in '03. It's off at a 'smith having a few custom touches done. I often consider going "1911-only" for pistols. I think about selling a bunch of guns and putting the money towards a higher-end custom 1911. Sometimes I love the variety I've built up over the years but sometimes I think I'd be better off sticking to just a couple really nice ones.

The triggers on 1911's can be very finely tunes as can be the slide/barrel fit for accuracy. That is why they are used in bullseye pistol competition. I shoot several 1911's in competition but prefer the striker fired pistols for self defense/personal protection. I also shoot striker fired pistols in IDPA.

To me no other semi-auto handgun can match the 1911.

I have a couple of plastic fantastics I bought in moments of weakness. I've been trying to trade them to my local dealer for 1911s for awhile and he won't do it. He says he can sell 1911s and the others just lay there in the display case for months.
