OK, I can't seem to sort this problem out.

I have a SA Mil Spec 1911 and I just put in a C&S medium length aluminum trigger. The rest of the fire control components are stock.

Fitting the trigger to the frame was not a problem. Works fine except the sear now hangs up just a little on the last set of hooks on the hammer, the weird ones that springfield puts just past the half-cock hooks.

The over-travel screw is nowhere near the mag release, and the trigger body itself comes nowhere near the mag release. It does this with the mag release out of the frame even.

The feeling I get when trying to sort it out is that the rear of the trigger bow is somehow hanging up on the grip safety because I can feel it pushing on the grip safety at the end of its travel. I cleaned up the rear of the trigger bow with file and stone to get any burrs off, and no help.

Do I need to start removing material from the rear of the trigger bow? From the top surface or from the rear surface? I don't want to take too much off the top because I don't want to inactivate the grip safety, but I'm thinking that's where the problem is

What's the point of those little hooks on the springfield hammer? I feel like just filing them off completely since they seem to be causing more trouble than they're worth and I don't want to let them peen the sear. On the other hand, I want to leave the stock parts untouched in case I have an issue that requires a trip to the factory.

Thanks for your help.

Sounds like your trigger bow is stopping on the grip safety, the angled surface just below the upper, longer part of the arm.
Remove a bit from this surface and try again.

That did it.

It still feels like the sear is riding the hammer for the last 10 deg or so, but it's not catching like it did.

I think that a drop-in trigger pull kit is the next move.

Thanks.
