Can anyone identify this marking on this model 94? Its on both sides of the receiver. It was made in 1942. All I can find are Canadian Pacific Coast Rangers markings on the 2,500 or so they purchased in 1941-1942, but that marking is a C with an arrow head inside. This might be a Winchester mark for a factory re-blue or something. Could be a state or military mark maybe? IMG_2737.jpeg

That looks to be the initials A.M. (or perhaps M.A.) My bet is that it is an inspector's mark meaning the rifle passed some sort of quality control inspection. If it's truly 1942 (i.e. wartime production), then it must be quite rare as there was very little of anything produced for civilian consumption those years. Also, given how immaculate that bluing looks, it must have been reblued at some point.

Thanks D.B. The serial # is 1331047. They made more than you might think in 1942. Very few if any in 43 - 44. I don't quite see the 'A' but you might be right. tempImage4KbETi.jpg tempImagewPauxv.jpg
