I have inherited the above rifle in .35 Remington. Ammo is very hard to come by so I guess I'll be reloading this rifle. Does anyone know if this rifle will have micro groove rifling? Don't think I'll load lead but I don't want to rule it out.

Hornady and Remington make ammo in .35 Rem for the Marlins. My 336 is particularly fond of the Hornady LeverRevolution ammo and I reload the brass. Good stuff.

Look along the barrel near the foreword handguard. That is where it says on my Marlin there there is micro groove rifling.

Yes- it's microgroove.
I've had limited success with cast bullets in a 30-30 336, but not good enough to keep on tinkering with sizing, alloy comp, etc. But I've read of plenty of success stories.

Darn, I was hoping it didn't have the micro groove. Ammo is very hard to find around here. In the last 3 years all I've found is Hornady and in very limited quantities.

I now have 4 boxes of ammo but have yet to shoot the gun. Guess I'll order dies tonight.

The 35 is slowly sliding into obscurity, I almost never see ammo on shelves any more and it is usually Hornady. It is a good enough round, but not really better than other similar rounds. I have one, it is a nice gun to be different. But while factory ammo is technically still produced not enough is sold for a steady supply. The factories make a small run once in a while, when it is sold it may be a year before they get around to making more.

I have several boxes put back. No more often than I shoot mine it will last me a while.

I have an early '50s vintage 336 in 30-30. Would love to have a 35Rem as a bookend. Searching out here, just like them as neat old rifles, and I like the Marlin over Winchester as a lever gun.

My wife's grandfather hunted with a 35, deer and bear, and it was a reliable one-shot meat maker. In my hands, I'd likely be reloading more....:)

It's a nice looking rifle and rarely used. Belonged to a girlfriend's father and left to me. Guess I'll just stock up on ammo whenever I see it.

Wow, nice rifle! I love the older Marlins. You got a very good one. To me, it would be worth doing whatever is necessary to keep it shooting.

Very nice.
I love the levers for sure.

I definitely think you should get set up to load for it. That thing will be a deer slayer (assuming you're a hunter that is).
Either way, enjoy.

Just wondering...does Starline ever make brass in the .35 Rem. ? For a hunting gun, a purchase of two or three hundred brass would last a life time!

I had a Marlin/Glenfield back in the early '70's with the Micro-groove barrel, the only way I could get adequate accuracy out of any hand loads using cast bullets, was using a gas check. Using jacketed bullets were no problem however.
