$199.95 Shotguns!

Saw an ad for 199.95 12g semi auto shotguns over at local store. They were some weird G-force brand and available in both combat type and a home defense. Went down to take a look and all were gone the day the ad came out. Also gone was all the lead shot shotshells. Only pricey steel was left. Asked clerk and he said a dozen plus went after opening. Been a long time since i have seen anything so cheep so maybe supply is coming back. I think we are in for a long rebound or continuance of gun sales. Did say they were expecting ever cheaper pumps. Did say many they bought these as resumption of mask BS and home visits might get a bit heated,

G-Force is another Turkish brand, they and all the rest of the Turkish brands have been flooding the market with typically well made but inexpensive guns for the last five or so years. I just ordered a SDS Imports BLT M12 PT semi-auto bullpup in 12 gauge for $310 shipped. My FFL charges only me $20 because I'm former military and former law enforcement.

The pump actions can be found starting around $125 up to $200 depending on which Turkish brand it is.
 
I looked "g force" up and can see why the tactical ones sold. They are/were $100 less than many online sellers. I have what i need. "Mr Remington" (an A5 copy US issue riot gun) can lay waste to anything in its path. Lost count of rattlers, squirrels, coyotes and ferals can attest to that.

Yeah, my 870 express looks pretty rough, but I trust it as much as any shotgun. It used to be my everything gun back when Indiana was a shotgun only state. Deer, squirrels, turkey....Now it just sits in the gun case. Pretty sure it was either $199 or $249 in the 80s when I bought it
 
My other 12g is an ancient New Haven 600AT which i think is the great grandpa of the Mossberg 500. As it was a gift i really like it. The maverick i think is the least expensive of the Moss family with many interchangeable parts. I had seen savage pumps for as little as $169 prior to Fauxvid debacle. Maybe they will return coincidentally with common sense. Inflation damage may never be repaired.

I am concerned that we have not seen the end of the current inflationary spiral and its effect on prices. I went back to the store in question today. The manager is a friend and told me many bought more than one as an investment/profit. If wholesalers are aware we may have seen the end of all cheap stuff.
 
That's one thing I have seen no shortage of during this last 2 years of madness, is foreign made (turkish) magazine fed and pump action shotguns. I have no desire for these, but if I was looking for a HD gun and didn't already have a gun (or two) to fill that role, lord knows there is no shortage of 12GA imports to choose from. From what I'm told they are reliable and decently made.

It's not uncommon for me to see a couple of these imports being sold at the same price, slightly different furniture but otherwise identical in function, being sold under different brands but basically the same damn thing.... like STS/SDX something or other..... hard to keep up.

the New Haven 600AT isn’t the grandfather of the Mossberg, it is a Mossberg 500. It was a private label version, I believe the one my dad bought in 20 ga. in the mid-70s was purchased at Montgomery Wards.
 
When it comes to a good working and reliable pump shotgun it is hard to beat the Remington 870 and the Mossberg 500. Not that there are not other good pump shotguns, but the two mentioned are American made and have a long history of service here for hunters , law enforcement, military , and home protection. Parts are always available and accessories are plentiful. They are worth spending a bit more money over foreign cheap guns.
 
While I know there are sub $200 new shotguns out there i, personally, will stay away. I did but a Stevens 320 for my wife to shoot a turkey with (on closeout for $169), I have found nothing to beat a well used Ringmaster or 500 for durability and operation.
 
If they are cheap and work, that’s called a good deal. I won some budget 870’s awhile back and the price tag on the box was $215. They are no Fieldmaster as far as for looking at them but they are still reliable shotguns as far as shooting them goes.
 
My Charles Daly 301 in 12 gauge eats everything that I put through it, no complaints here for under $200.00
