I know this isn't directly related to black powder shooting, but I figured that this was a better place than any other to ask, since an affinity for black powder firearms tends to mean an affinity for many related things within the time period, and I know that there are CAS shooters, here.

Where are some good sources for mens clothing - not only "western", but perhaps some other examples of dress and daily wear mid/late 1800's clothing? Something along the everyday sacksuit (I think that is what they were called).

EDIT: When I said western, I should have said CAS clothing. What I see in CAS clothing is usually a mixture of civil war clothing and vests with nice gus shirts. Love it, but looking for more complete 1800s wardrobe.

Cowboy corral, various Civil War sutlers also sell civilian clothes, River Junction Trade Co., etc. check the SASS home page for links to clothiers. There are tons.

I think Dixie sells some cool 18th century stuff, you might have luck browsing there if you are looking for some old fashion cloths! http://www.dixiegunworks.com/default.php?cPath=22_107

It may also help if you sew. I taught myself how to sew, it's a good skill everybody should have anyway. I don't think it's a "girl or guy" only activity at all, in fact me being able to sew has even impressed several ladies.

Well CAS has an abundance of Western American clothing, some of which is heavily influenced by Hollywood, but back-in-the-day you did see many folks with Victorian Era clothing, especially if they came from the East, or wanted to dress up in cities such as Chicago or San Francisco, etc.

You can also find sewing patterns for many of the clothing items found on the website if you don't, like me, want to pay their prices.

Bought some stuff from Wild West Mercantile in Mesa, AZ. Been in the place once, but since I don't get up to Phoenix often - and I'm generally "just passin' through"; I usually buy online.
Their web page has a "closeout" page, something like Cabela's "Bargain Cave", selling out oddball sizes of clothes when the normal sizes are gone; helps out a guy like me whose arms are "too long" for common shirt sizes.

Seek out some Civil War re-enactors in your area, if there are any. I know some historical re-enactors, and half of what they do is buy, sell, swap, and make the clothes. It's not all uniforms with them -- they're into civilian clothes for both men and women, etc.
