IMG_6431.JPG I've been a Glock and CZ fan for a long time. The 19X has been on my wish list since it came out as my only issue with the standard Glock 19 was the grip being just a bit too short for my bear paws. The other pistol I've been wanting is a CZ SP-01 Phantom. Well, my wife bought me a 19X for my birthday and I got her a Phantom for Mother's Day, so I got a chance to shoot both of them side by side and also mixed in a few other pistols.

For starters, the 19X is a good looking pistol. I know that's pretty insignificant as a factor for a defensive pistol, but Glock did a good job choosing the colors. More importantly, feels like it belongs in my hands. I love the longer grip without finger grooves and the shorter slide and barrel balance out well with the 20 round magazines. No hiccups in reliability through 300 rounds and groups were very acceptable from 3 yards out to 40 yards. I shot it next to my Glock 21 which has a Ghost Ranger connector and springs and the 19X feels about the same honestly. Overall I'm really pleased with the 19X and I'm glad I chose it over the CZ P-10 C that I was considering. One gripe though, the sights are set up for a combat hold instead of the 6 o'clock hold I prefer. That's just a simple matter of changing the rear sight, but I do wish Glock hadn't changed that. Overall, 7/10 and a good buy for the price.

On to the Phantom. Don't tell my wife, but this is the pistol I shot the most. It's just a friggin laser beam. I wouldn't say the trigger was as good as my Omega trigger pistols, but it was good. I wish it came with night sights, but the sights it came with are very good. Even more than the 19X, this gun just felt good in the hands. Controlled pairs were easy and tight. I don't know that I ever missed a 10" plate at forty yards and the sights were dead on for a 6 o'clock hold at 10 yards. I think the next pistol I buy for myself with be a SP-01 Shadow 2 because of this Phantom. Overall 8.5/10 because I'd like to see better sights and the Omega trigger, but a very solid polymer offering from CZ.

Thanks for the review. I was intrigued by the Phantom during its' previous run, and was disappointed when it went away. I'm glad to see it back. I believe forum member armoredman has one from the previous generation and is a big fan.
